thanks for the reply. Yes the looper records as it should when the MIDI is not plugged in.
That’s odd. Any chance you could record a video of it?
The forum does not like the mov files created by my iphone.
There’s YouTube…
The reason I’m asking is that I can’t think of a reason why this would be. Maybe I’m missing something in your description. I’ve never had a problem with the Infinity not recording.
Yes ill put a vid on YouTube.
The looper could be bad. I have a call into pigtronics.
Hope to hear back soon.
Is there a setting on the bb or looper I missed?
I may have figured it out. Just saw a youtube video. Does the bb have to be in the chain? I have it going to my sound system only.
That would explain it.
The audio won’t transfer over MIDI if that’s what you’re asking.
What is your setup like?
Yep. That was dumb.
I have the looper in the chain but not the bb. So why is the audio recorded without the midi connected? I understand midi is just the commands but the guitar is still going into the looper.
This is the first time I have played with a midi device
Can you write out a simple diagram of how you have things connected?
Sure. I made it very simple.
< out to amp - looper - BB - in from guitar<
I also have the MIDI cable connected as it should be.
Still does not record.
I put a video on youtube. Any help is appreciated.
Gary
I don’t have any loopers but from a quick look at your video I would not plug the beatbuddy output into the looper. It should only need the midi link. I would go guitar into looper, looper out to amp with the beatbuddy to a seperate amp. If you are going to the one amp I would take guitar into looper, out of looper into beatbuddy and out of beatbuddy to amp. Then you just have the midi cable between amp and looper.
Yep that is the correct way to run the two pieces. Talked to Alex at Pigtronics and he helped me fix the problem. All i needed to do was bring up the app and shut off midi notes. Thanks everyone who replied.
Now Im gonna go jam my ass off.
.
Ah, sorry I didn’t see this sooner. I’m not sure I would have guessed that in my own but in retrospect I see what was happening. Glad you got it sorted out!
After 8 months of the most frustrating music gear experience I have ever had I am selling the Infinity I bought in January this year. I have tried every trick/update method under the sun and it simply does not cooperate with the Beatbuddy. There is no question in my mind that these independently great pieces of kit are so damn complicated both in their design and synergy that it would be a miracle if they actually worked. I have read and read and read and no sooner do I solve one problem when another appears. There is so much interactivity going with these machines and they obviously speak very different languages. I’m really disappointed and frustrated. No more headaches for me thank you. I will probably keep the beat buddy as a fancy metronome but unless I shell out more dollars for a Boomerang, it seems I have no option for getting this drum machine to simply SYNC with a looper
Infinity and Beatbuddy need to stop misleading people into the false assumption that their gear works together. Maybe it does if you have a degree in computer science and endless hours, days and weeks of patience. Not simple. Not easy. Very, very hard and for a gigging muso to rely on this setup? You gotta be joking!
Voicelive 3 is syncing just fine with my BB. I have giged with those two all summer 4 times a week with 60% of my set being loops and buddy beats. You could try it.
I have 2 Infinitys in my Setup, both working very well with BB(I`m no PC expert or something else in that direction)… Whats the problem???
I have one Infinity, which links well with the BB. The only thing BB won’t do is stop its beat while letting the looper continue playing. It all stops together.
You have to set up the Infinity correctly, but I’m not going into that (it’s easy) until you tell us what you been trying to do.
Yeah…no one’s misleading anyone. Mine work perfectly together.
