Hello,
I’m making midi tracks for the Beat Buddy from my EZdrummer 2 software…
The EZdrummer EZX & midi packs works great in the Beat buddy manager to making killer songs https://www.toontrack.com/ezdrummer-line/
I loaded a BB file into my EZdrummer & looped it with a EZD file side by side…the BB file is lower in volume/head room in the side by side comparison…!!!
With that said…I made a test song with only the two files I compared in my EZdrummer to be played in the BBmanager…
The song intro is BB-metal one…main loop is EZD-Hats, the fill is BB-Metal-one once again, allowing you to click the pedal to compare…and last the ending is EZD-hats again…
I can play the song in the BBmanager but my pedal only plays default settings…
once I get a pedal that I can program…I’ll be happy to share midi, fills & accents…!!!
Right now the pedal doesn’t play any programming sent to it, it can only play default settings & songs…It doesn’t program or except changes when exporting using the BB manager, nor finds any new folders or name changes in the pedal’s directory!!!
like the youtube video…
I’m going to return the pedal & try a new one…this one is broken…!!!
The pedal isn’t intended to work the way you say, unfortunately. Just like nowhere in the video said it should.
In order for the pedal to “see” any content you put into it, you should use BBManager.
Simply adding new folders will not work.
BeatBuddy currently cannot be used as a sequencer. It can only play the songs that are uploaded into it via BBManager.
It’s plays the midi drum file in the BBmanager but doesn’t show up in the pedal once i export it to it…
only default settings/songs/list does it play in the pedal…!!!
If i can’t program it nor store songs on it, I’m returning it for a refund…
It’s doesn’t play any file import from & exported to the pedal…only defaults…!!
That’s not what they advertise for it to do…Can even change the parameters of the files to play on the pedal…
You need to add songs only through BBManager. Export - Import > Import Song, then Export - Import > Export Project to Pedal.
Just forget that you can open SD card content in Windows Explorer. You should use specialized software (BBManager) to create, edit and perform any other manipulations with the pedal memory and SD card.
The pedal is far from junk, you just need to learn how to use it properly. It isn’t that hard.

I have Protools 11 that’s more difficult to use…!!!
When I first connect the pedal to my PC to load the drivers it crashed…!!!
And yes! nothing I Import from the pedal & to the pedal via BB manager is found on the pedal to use…
Man, if you try to hammer nails to your wall to hang the picture with the BeatBuddy, you may also notice it isn’t very convenient as well.
You Protools 11 will not help you program your BeatBuddy, you can as well uninstall them completely. You didn’t export anything to the pedal. You just put some files manually onto the SD card. This is not how you should do it.
Export can be done only via BBManager. Refer to the manual and multiple youtube video guides. I’d recommend starting with Psalm40’s ones.
I am heading off to sleep. Have a good night! After initial difficulties, you will see how BeatBuddy is a really cool pedal.
I don’t use the Protools to program the pedal…Duh.!.. I’m using the bbmanager to import/export to the pedal,…!!! Protools is easier to figure out & navigate as an example, then to program this pedal at first…is what I meant to referring the Protools 11…
Ok! I figured it out, had to rewrite the defaults with the new files,…Fingers crossed…!!!
I got the pedal to play all the drum tracks in the picture including the double Trouble track from EZdrummer…
Here’s a test file called Double trouble made from my EZdrummer 2 midi packs into the bbmanager…I just threw together to see if it works in my pedal & it does…good luck.
Using the terminology you’ve used in this thread earlier, your MIDI files package is “junk”.
The MIDI files inside are not mapped correctly to channel 10 and require post-processing to listen. I was able to audition them only after I’ve imported them to a percussion track of my Guitar Pro 5.2. They sound pretty meh as well and are not properly quantized.
It would help enormously if you corrected MIDI files and also remove all the *.midtrackinfo files. They are useless.
Do you have any midi or BBS file for me & others to download to try. to better explain yourself???
And why are you not opening the file in your bbmanager to listen to the midi file in, the miditrackinfo are the important settings to the codac software in the bbmanager… then to use the Tape Deck (Pre) in Guitar Pro 5 by Native Instruments…see pictures…
If your going to use the native instruments Guitar Pro 5 Tape deck…The GP5 doesn’t play midi drum files very good, especially if you removed the miditracking info from the file…! I recommend you convert the midi files to WAV or MP3, the Guitar Pro 5 plays in it Tape deck the WAV. & MP3 format with no loss to the sound,…!!!..
Or I can offer you drum tracks in the WAV file format from my Magix music maker 16 to use in your Guitar Pro 5 software…??? Note: they can’t be used in your bbmanager though…
Yep, without some sort of conversion process EZDrummer files seem to be on MIDI channel 1 and of course there are more separate drums with different MIDI drum notes assigned to them in EZD so not all notes will sound in BB. Summing up, you either need to convert all EZD midi notes to notes used by BB or make an EZDrummer drum kit in BB (which I thought you’d done reading one of your other posts) using drum samples from EZD kits and assigning to correct notes.

Yes! the EXD midi output in on channel 1…output 1L output 2R see pic…
Do you by chance know which channel the BBmanager receives on…??
