Exporting songs major problem!! Please help

I tried to reorganise a set list with new folders. None of the songs I exported to the desktop had the BB icon, just a file with the corner folded down.
They imported ok but wouldn’t play. I spent a long time on this and luckily I have a back up so I can start again. I couldn’t save the new project and its gone from my SD card.
PLEASE HELP…

Hi. From what you describe, it sounds like your BB songs have lost their file associations with the BeatBuddy Manager.
If this is the case, and depending on your OS, you can fix this by following these steps
[]Mac: https://www.macworld.com/article/1154861/os-x/changedefaultapp.html#slide2
[
]Windows: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-change-file-associations-in-windows-2624477
If this does not fix the problem, it would be helpful to have some more details about your operating environment, e.g.,
[]What’s your OS version?
[
]BBM version?
[]Did you use the BBM > Tools > Set Workspace Location?
[
]Are you using the BBM exclusively to manage your songs and folders?
[]Do the songs in your backup version display the icon properly?
If resetting the file associations didn’t help, here’s what I’d suggest trying:
[
]Save Project As to a Location other than you bbworkspace

Follow the General Disaster Recovery process from http://forum.mybeatbuddy.com/index.php?threads/general-disaster-recovery.7774/

Let me know how this turns out.

Thank you Persist!! It helped. I went to Get info and the default app was “kind GenRandom 661” (whatever that is) I changed it to Beat buddy manager and now I can export and import so thank you. It doesn’t export using the BB icon though so something is amiss and I haven’t yet tried to save to SD card so thats my next mission. The back up copy does show the icon.
I’m running mac OS sierra 10.12.6. and BB 1.64
I dont use the Workspace, just a file on my desktop. It seems to work ok so I don’t know what the benefit would be.
Thanks again for your help.

Reboot or log out and back in and when exporting BBM files, they should appear as expected.

No problem if you only use your bbworkspace folder on your desktop for the BBM. The second you start moving files and folders in/out of it manually, you run the risk of corrupting the BBM file management.

Update, I found that the app for opening the files had changed to one called “open all files” and it kept reverting to it. I went to the apps in finder and deleted it and now the songs import and export with the icon. Phew!! what a relief. It saved to the SD card fine too.
Thanks again for your help.

Good deal. Thanks for following up.
