Flip between BBMO and BBM question

Can I flip back and forth using the new online Beatbuddy BBMO back to the desktop app BBM 1.6.5.0? Or once I use the current BBMO, will I be then locked into using the online BBMO from that point on?

I decided a year ago, based on the the newer BBMO not having (at the time) a safety “save” option when experimenting with multiple song BPMs and drums, and forcing me to save songs before experimenting if wishing to maintain the original song integrity, to remain using the stable for me BBM 1.6.5.0. The new BBMO was at the time saving all the experimental iteriations as the defaults and not letting me maintain the integrity of the original songs. Support on the forum at the time indicated I should in this case, save the original songs prior before any experiments, but that is too time consuming when searching for suitable beats very quickly thru many songs, as I can do with the legacy BPM application very quickly.

I can move thru many experiments very quickly without saving iteriations. To save every file before I experiment was too time consuming. Since then, I do not currently know if enahcements were made in this area. I’m willing to give the BBMO another try but want to make sure I still have the ability to fall back to the legacy unupdated 1.6.5 BBM desktop app if needed. I’m actively performing with the BB and very worried about any risk I may introduce in flipping or trying the current BBMO. Staying on the unupdated legacy (for me stable) BBM at the moment is low risk to me.

Thank you.

Yes, you can however, some caveats:

  • don’t open the same project concurrently with the BBM and the BBMO as it could corrupt the project data management files
  • to reduce your risk of corruption to your project, make a copy of your project folder on your computer; use one for the BBMO and the other for your BBM. Name both folders differently.
  • if your current BBMO project is set to BB2 mode, you probably won’t want to try to open that project in the BBM

The process of saving the integrity of your original default content beat/song has been made much easier in the BBMO. Use the Duplicate feature to instantly make a copy of a beat/song and base your experiments on the duplicate. If that doesn’t work for you, you can delete the duplicate. For example, after duplicating the Blues 1 beat, it appears at the bottom of the folder with “Copy” appended to the beat title. Easy to change tempo and drum sets and move sections around within the framework of the beat.

Thank you, I’ll try as soon as my seasonal engagement schedule slows down.
