I’ve just moved from 32-bit Windows to 64-bit Windows, which, as you may know, entails a complete wipe of teh hard drive. I cloned my original disk, so I know I have not lost the files, but, in running the newly-set-up BBM, I can find neither the stock library nor the library of songs I’ve created. I left them in the default place – any idea where that might be?
You can try this and search for “beatbuddy” http://www.windowscentral.com/how-search-files-windows-10-cortana
If you prefer, you can use the file explorer.
Narrow the scope of the search by searching in your documents folder.
If searching on beatbuddy does not work, search using
user_lib
default_lib
If for some reason you cannot find your files, you can probably use the BBM to open your project on your SD card.
Thanks for the quick reply. It’s a good start, but I’ve already been there. Here’s where I’m at:

I have my projects, they are all intact and working – I can open them in BBM and synch changes to my pedal.

I do have all the files as well, both user_lib and default_lib
What’s missing is my ability to connect to the correct directory when I click on a pattern in BBM. They don’t always open the correct file folder. Is there a way to fix that?
If you know with certainty where your bbworkspace is located, use BBM menu Tools > Set Workspace Location
If you don’t know where it’s located, you can quickly locate it by hovering over the Project Explorer (or clicking on it, depending on which version of the BBM you are using) to display the path to your bbworkspace or take you to it. Use the menu to set your workspace location.

I know for certain where the workspace is and I have set the location. The problem is, not all of the parts find their original files. The link between the part in BBM and the MID file from which it comes seems to be broken. I’m starting to think it’s a Windows problem…
If your project is on your SD card and you’ve made a backup copy of your workspace, the only recommendation I can make is to uninstall the BBM and the workspace and start over from scratch by reinstalling the BBM.
That’s where I started – reinstalling the BBM on the new 64-bit system. I can find all the files that represent the parts of the songs, they just don’t seem to be reattaching by themselves.
So if I reinstall and backup from the SD cards, will that reattach all the parts to their files?
I don’t think there’s any instructions posted to the forum or in the BBM user guide.
If you synced your project to your SD card, those folders will be available. If you have several different projects in your workspace, they’ll be available from your backup.
I’m assuming that the folders you created were done within the BBM, right?
All synched to my SD card. Folders are available, just not automatically linked. I have three projects in my workspace. And not sure what you mean by “…done in workspace.”
It’s all working now, but I have to occasionally hunt down the right folder when I make changes to a given part. I seem to remember NOT having to do that before.
Good question. For the included content, the Manager built them when I installed. For my own content, kind of a mix, but I would have to say they were mostly built using Windows.
Joe, you should not have to hunt down files or folders within the BeatBuddy Manager (BBM). However, and this is a large “however,” the BBM does not maintain the association (paths and relationships to patterns) when folders are created outside of the BBM using Windows or the Mac OS.
if you have created folders within the bbworkspace folder using Windows, that is most likely the reason why the BeatBuddy Manager is not recognizing the relationship between patterns and the path to folders. As to why this might have worked before, I’m not sure but I know that in working with other users that had similar issues, it was caused by trying to perform function outside of the BBM and then expecting the BBM to know what you had done o_O
I really don’t know. My opinion is that they should stay connected. Permanently? Probably only until the next Windows 10 or BBM update You can give it a try and see what happens though.
The latest BBM has some other issues – notably that it doesn’t retain new tempos through transitions or fills when you’re experimenting with the tempo slider at the top – so I wonder if this might also be an issue to this version. I may try to roll back and see what happens.
Many of the issues have been brought up here in the forum and captured by Support. Some are legitimate bugs that the developers are working to resolve with a new version. Other problems tend to be self-inflicted and can be resolved. Support is probably trying to come up with ways for how the developers can help users avoid the self-inflicted variety.
