Hello Stratocaster,
im working with BB and the Ditto X4 but i have a problem:
when i record a loop and stop the recording a bit before the loop ends and then start looping only the sync of the first loop is in time. The second loop is starting earlyer because the first loop was a bit shorter.
If midi sync is working then the start of the loop should be always in time.

Am i right?
What could be the problem?

Wernr

HI,
Is the small mode switch #3 on the back of the Ditto in the up position? This should sync the tracks.

Rich

Whoops, sorry I meant “down” position :frowning:

i have only the switch 2 in up position.

Hi Wernr,

Sorry I hadn’t been busy on the forum !
In fact, if you cut the record too early, the ditto x4 won’t sync with the right bi=eat.
For instance, if you record a 4/4 bar, and you stop your record on the 3rd beat, that means your record wil be sync in 3/4 becaus the ditto x4 “magnetize” with the nearest beat I think.
Maybe it is the origin of your problem. In gfact you have to be careful with the metronome of the BB and stop your beat the nearest as you can of the end of the bar.

Wish it helps !

Is it possible to plug a looper (such as the Boss RC-1) into a MIDI converter (such as the Sonuus-G2M) and get it to sync?

Or is this more a clock thing that would require more effort than just getting a MIDI compatible looper?

If you already have the Sonuus G2M, it might be worth trying however, given the problems that both pedals seem to exhibit (based on the online reviews) with lag time, it doesn’t appear that the Sonuus will provide reliable and correct synching with the BeatBuddy.

That’s the thing, I don’t have one and didn’t want to invest unless it was a workable solution.

Just wondered if anyone else ever came up with a workaround.

Thanks

@Guitar_Stu
I just bought the Ditto Jam 2x and so far I’m really impressed. I had to update the firmware when I got it; I noticed the algorithm for beat detection has dramatically improved since I updated. Beforehand it would struggle to sync with shuffle beats or beats without accents on the 2 and 4; but now it seems perfectly fine.

It worked quite well with the onboard microphone - much better than I expected although it did stuff up if the drums were hard to hear in the mix. So I plugged in a 3.5mm male to male jack from the beatbuddy headphone out to the mic input and now it has no issues and keeps perfect sync.

I’ve been quite critical of the Ditto 4x and it’s poor MIDI sync in the past. However, I think this may be one of the best and most easy to use hardware loopers on the market (and the most musical). There’s no MIDI clocks to worry about or MIDI cabling or routing. It simply listens to the beat and quantizes your loop subtly to keep it in perfect time.

I started that TGP thread. I’ve found X2 Jam does follow the Beat Buddy very well as long as you don’t make any drastic tempo changes.

What hasn’t worked so far is using the X2 Jam for live looping with a real drummer - but that’s a subject more for my TGP thread.

So, bought the Ditto Jam X2 and put it through its paces both with the onboard mic and jack from BB into X2 and it withstood everything I threw at it even deliberate tempo changes.

Just have to remember to unplug the jack when switching from BeatSense mode to classic mode because for some reason it gets noise from BB into the loop.

Great looper, (also love the dedicated stop switch, always hated double clicking to stop) works reliably with BB, and better than messing around with MIDI stuff.

Thanks for the recommendation!

I read through the manual for the jam x2 and theres some hidden features.
The beat sense light will flash in time with the detected beat. But it if gets it wrong, you can tap the stop button to hint the time.
If a loop is playing and it goes off time, you can tap play to sync it back.

This looper is just awesome. I’ve had it for several days now and I just cant fault it. I strongly recommend this looper for beat buddy users.

The EHX 95000 looper is also compatible with midi sync, but with some limitation with unusual Time Signature like we have in the Odd times menu (5/8, 9/8 and few others)

Ditto X4 does not work properly for anything MIDI but the simplest of applications, ie, single loop, on and off. As soon as you get into adding second loops, you will loose sync before the end of any song that has more than one verse/chorus. And it’s a garbage pedal, HIGHLY prone to bricking, it did for me i the middle of a set. Don’t believe me… go the manufacturer forums … http://forum.tcelectronic.com/topic/19421/ditto-x4-not-working-all-leds-are-green/)" 25,000+ views on this thread compared to most others at under 100, and that covers all of their pedals. The second most viewed thread is problems with X4 and MIDI.

Have you done video using bb and jamx2 ? It would be great to see your connections and how it turns !!

I’ve been having some pleasant results in my first attempts with the BB and Pigtronix Infinity

Absolutely! I use it live everyday too and with a bit of work and patience works wonders

Hello, all. I just got my BB. I’ve been using the rhythm feature of my RC-300 for several years. I hope this is the right place to pose this question:
I’ve invested a LOT of time in setting up 94 of the 99 phrase memory spaces in the RC-300, identifying the beat, time signature, and tempo. Do I need to set aside a chunk of time to do t he same with BB? I have to say that all (ALL) of the YouTube stuff I’ve looked at fails to 'splain this.
