Is there a simple way to merge our old BB1 card data (including Complete Collection) with the new BB2 content (with e.g. HD Drums) - e.g. copy/paste in File Explorer, rather than going through BB Manager
I ordered the Premium bundle, just received my BB2 and SuperSwitch but not the Cablis or the two BeatBuddy2 Boutique bundles. Love the unit, display, etc.
But am a bit confused on how I consolidate all the various “bundles” I’ve previously purchased. The BB2 obviously came with a 4GB SD card preloaded with what appears to be three HD kits but I don’t think the SD card it’s big enough to add these other packs:
- Beat Boutique 2) Groove Monkee (purchased from Singular Sound) 3) Goran Grooves Complete Collection
I loaded an SD card with BB1 content (Goran Grooves Complete Collection) but when I went to the gear wheel and attempted to convert the content in the SD reader to BB2, I get errors:
Unable to backup project: NoModificationAllowedError: An attempt was made to write to a file or directory which could not be modified due to the state of the underlying filesystem.
Should I wait for the email (or shipment) of the two BB2 Beat Boutique bundles before starting to consolidate? I know from a communication with Goran that they will be releasing their Complete Collection that’s BB2 and AutoPilot capable soon. I guess previous purchasers will get to upgrade at a nominal cost.
What’s the easiest way for me to combine the new BB2 content with the other three packs I mention above on one 32gb SD card? Do I used BBMO2?
I had the same issue when I loaded and tried to convert the project directly from the BB1 SD card (btw I’m using Google Chrome app on my iMac).Next I tried saving the BB1 project as a backup on my computer. Then I converted the computer backup to BB2 format and it worked that way (it will ask you what folder you want to save the converted project into). It worked the first time. Not sure why it couldn’t do it directly from the SD card.
Once that is done you should be able to import any new content into your converted project.
For assistance with this, please send an email to support@singularsound.com, and I will provide you with detailed instructions along with a video.
Apologies if this has been covered but I didn’t see it. When merging the folders/songs from the BB1 SD card with the new BB2 SD card, can my folders be maintained as they are? I have hundreds of midi commands pointing to the BB1 folders and I would hate to have to recreate them. Thanks in advance - and the new BB2 looks great and seriously considering it.
This may be a question best answered by Support, support@singularsound.com or by a BB2 user that’s actually had success preserving their MIDI data with their conversion process from BB1 to BB2.
However, if I were to hazard a guess, your MIDI data could be preserved (with their respective MIDI position locator IDs) as long as they remain in the same location as they were in their BB1 project. The MIDI data is dynamic vs. static—it changes when a song or folder is moved.
I hope that any user that’s already successfully performed this replies to this post and tells us whether or not this works and if it didn’t, what they did to make it work.
If you are using the BBMO2, you would never want to sort songs or folders alphabetically. The MIDI position locator ID changes when the song or folder is moved.
- Before you try anything, make sure you have a backup of your BB1 project on your computer as well as a backup of your BB1 SD card. Zip and keep the files separated from the main work area (desktop).
- Convert the BB1 project on your computer using the BBMO2 beta following the instructions at BeatBuddy Manager Online BETA and save your project.
- Compare that the MIDI position locator IDs remain the same in the BB2 project as they were in the BB1 project. If they do, you can assume that they should work with your MIDI controller or OnSong.
- Before adding any content, test the newly converted BB2 project on the BB2 pedal and signal/data chain. Only then consider adding content to the BB2 project.
- To add content, import folders and keep them at the bottom of the Songs List.
The only thing that’s new on the BB2 default content is the Autopilot samples and the HD drum kits.
I opened the BB2 project in BBMO, exported the Autopilot samples folder and the three HD drum kits. I then opened my main project and imported them into there. That way your main project remains unchanged as far as MIDI is concerned.
