Hi, can anybody explain what a .sng file is? In my beatbuddy folder there are no sng files in the song folder, only bbs-files. (I dont know what that is either). I downloaded a song that contained both an sng. file and a midifile named OPB_final. What does OPB stand for? How shall I use the sng file?
Your question probably deserves a little more background:
The BeatBuddy (BB) uses a proprietary format for it’s songs (.sng), folders (.pbf) and drum sets (.drm) files. These files are managed by the BeatBuddy Manager (BBM) Online (BBMO).
Think of .sng files as capsules containing the data needed for the BBMO and BB pedal to play a song. Same kind of goes for the drum set files which contain the data and instructions for the BBMO and BB to play all of the instruments contained in the .drm file.
Probably best to not use your computer operating system to use the BB and BBMO data as this is how you probably came across the .bbs files, which are part of the capsule and are part of folders and files that have hex encoded names.
The OPB_final file is probably the edited .mid source file and are provided by the song poster for users that have a digital audio workstation (DAW) that might want to further refine the file to suit their own tastes.
Files with a .bbp extension are the project file names.
Use the BBMO to import the .sng, .pbf, .drm, .bbs or .bbp files and from there you can edit them and synchronize them with your SD card. Do not use your computer OS to open any of these files directly using Windows or the macOS.
Another word of advice: when synchronizing with your SD card, insert your SD card in your computer slot reader and avoid using the USB connection method to transfer data to your SD card via the pedal as it has been known to corrupt the data. Especially important for updating firmware.
