I have some drum sheet music I’m using to create a song. It calls for “high tom”, “floor tom”, etc
But Rock set name reads “Tom1”, “Tom2”, etc, is there a way to find out which is floor, which is high, which is mid?
I found this online: Tom 1 is typically referred to as the Hi-Tom, Tom 2 as the Medium (Mid) Tom, Tom 3 as the Floor Tom, and Tom 4 is often just another Floor Tom or Lo Tom or an additional rack tom depending on the setup
Toms are usually numbered from high to low. Six is typically the most you will see, 4 rack toms, and 2 floor toms. In that case, you have 1-high tom, 2-hi mid tom, 3-lo mid tom, 4-mid tom, 5-hi floor tom, 6-lo floor tom. Adjust sensibly for smaller kit. If you have 3 tom parts, assume you have tom 2,4 and 6. With 4 toms, it could be 2345, or 23 56, or 24 56. Try different combinations and see what works. There are no absolute rules.
