I note there are many drumsets that play a MIDI bassline in the pattern. I was wondering if I can do the same but using guitar patterns, generated by a midi file, and using a guitar sound emulation, similar to the bass sampling.
Is there enough space memory wise to do such a thing, in view of how large the guitar samples would need to be?
Is there enough note range?
I play live bass and keys, and I am currently using audio backing tracks (my own) for drums and guitars, however these are by nature fixed and with a finite length. I’d like to try and explore the possibility of using the BB2 as both drums and guitars, because as it is the nature of the BB to be a live tool, it can be played for any length and in pretty much any order.
Yes, this is possible. However, it would take quite a bit of time and work to create, and the result may not sound exactly as you expect.
You can create a new drum set using the BeatBuddy Manager Online (BBMO), import individual guitar notes, and see/hear how they play back.
I would recommend reading through the BBMO manual to get started with the process. In general, there is enough note range and space to experiment with this.
If you haven’t done so already, there are several user-created drum sets that include guitar that you can audition. Although they include drums and bass, you can probably edit them to remove the bass and expand the range of the guitar—or, just use the drums and guitar for strumming.
Here’s a screen shot of kits from this forum with guitar
thanks - was more of a thought bubble when I was thinking about how I can incorporate more of the BB into live work. I play bass and keys along with BB and thought having some guitar strumming might be nice. But yeah, it would be a lot of work. I’ll have alook at those kits and try some “reverse engineering”
