Hey everyone. I see that some people here use OnSong with BeatBuddy to navigate different songs. Does it do anything else? I know I probably will need the new firmware, but for those who already are advanced in this (not me obviously lol) what else can it do?
And how do I connect and set up chord charts with the BeatBuddy and synchronize them?
If this was asked before I apologize. Just link me and I will do the reading. Thank you all and have an awesome day!!!
my onsong sends a midi command to Beatbuddy wirelessly bluetooth via the Puc+ to change songs but also at the same time it sets the (tempo if needed) and also sends a message to sampletank keyboard ios app on the same ipad to set the patch there too for midi guitar. Pretty cool to bang out 3 settings just by loading a song.
Did you know that you can send out a midi command by changing section in a song?
About sections: http://onsongapp.com/docs/features/formats/onsong/section/
Midi events: http://onsongapp.com/docs/interface/song-viewer/section-mapping-menu/midi-events/
Using foot pedals to change section: http://onsongapp.com/docs/interface/menubar/utilities-menu/settings/menu-settings/foot-pedals/
Hopefully in a future update, the Beat Buddy will allow transitions to specific song parts. You could configure your OnSong sections to send out midi commands to transition to the correct part (e.g. verse, chorus etc.) and even change the patch for your guitar tone or other MIDI configurable devices.
Okay, I have my iPad and my BeatBuddy and I actually also ordered that PUC+ thingy so it is wireless by Bluetooth (really cool!!).
In order to set it up to navigate between songs and folders, do I need to set up anything in the OnSong app first, like in general settings or something? My mind is drawing a blank here and I am a bit confused. I went into the Editors menu in OnSong and then to midi to set things up, but there are tons of options: Control, Program, Note, Start, and more. Which is the correct one to set up? (by the way, BB is slave and it is configured correctly, I tested this by pressing the keyboard in the PUC+ app and the BB’s sounds came out according to what I pressed)
Do I have to set a specific chord chart to each song and configure each one individually?
And also, followup question: is there any situation or setup where the OnSong app should the follow the BeatBuddy instead of the other way around??
Here it is in a really concise utube presentation - very well done!
OnSong with BeatBuddy
I just jumped onto OnSong and it is the killer app I’ve been looking for for my iPad, which up till now has been a very nice but expensive browser.
I have a McMillen 12 step coming that I’m going to tie into my show.
Likeing all this more and more - MIDI is finally dawning on me!
Cheers,
