Perhaps just an up and down arrow on the label so we know which is which. It’s an arbitrary assignment, and I often guess wrong.
Isn’t the left footswitch always associated with the first/top track?
Sure, but how you do you know that? You have to remember it, test it, read about it.
Why not make it obvious in the UI? This could be as simple as adding ^ and v to the text of the labels…
