Ableton integration

Hello everyone, newbie question. Please advise if any special hardware is also needed. I only have the BB+FS.

Q: What is best approach to record BB into Ableton?

I usally play BB and recrod the audio output, but synching (start in particular) is a problem. Also, I understand I can simply arrange something in BB Managers, and somehow transfer the MIDI into Ableton (did not try this myself).

Note, I am not doing live playing for now…just want record some beats.

Thanks.
JK

There are a couple of ways to integrate BB pedal with Ableton.

BB Pedal as a drum instrument in Ableton

  • You will need to connect BB Pedal to you computer Audio/MIDI interface using MIDI Sync Breakout Cable (https://singularsound.com/product/midi-sync-cable/)
  • Enable BB MIDI in Ableton
  • Create a MIDI track in Ableton and load the MIDI file (or create MIDI clips)
  • Set the track MIDI Output to BB MIDI

Sync up BB Pedal with Ableton

  • You will need to connect BB Pedal to you computer Audio/MIDI interface using MIDI Sync Breakout Cable (https://singularsound.com/product/midi-sync-cable/)
  • Enable BB MIDI in Ableton (also, enable Clock)
  • Set Ableton as Master and BB Pedal as slave
  • Create a MIDI track in Ableton and add MIDI messages to trigger BB Song parts (there is BB MIDI documentation on Singular Sound website for all supported MIDI messages by BB Pedal)

Thanks a lot. Ordered the cable, will keep posted.

Just want to point out you will also need a standard male-to-male MIDI cable running from the MIDI interface into the BB MIDI Sync cables, the MIDI Sync Breakout cable only has female MIDI ports.
