Aeros 3x6 mode

Hi, I’m new to the forum but a proud user of Aeros since 2020 :+1: There is one functionality that I believe would fit a lot of people’s live performance style (and would make it a perfect replacement for the more and more outdated Boomerang III Phrase Sampler): 3x6 mode. The logic is really simple:

  • The three switches would switch between three parts.
  • If the part is not yet recorded, this would start recording its first track.
  • Double tap would add a new track to the given part. In particular, if the part is currently not playing, it would initiate a part transition and a new track recording.

That’s pretty much it, and as a developer, I believe this should be fairly simple to implement, since the functionality is already there, just a bit difficult to do on the fly with the current mapping of the switches.

Is there any chance this could be implemented?

For the sake of completeness, two more pieces of functionality would make this even more usable:

  • A single tap on a part that’s currently playing would add a new track (there’s not really any other logical thing this should do, and it avoids one unnecessary double tap).
  • A long press should do one of the following:
    • Undoing the last recording on the given track (similar to 6x6)
    • Erasing the given part and start the recording of the first track.

As for the long press, for me, personally, a combination of these two would be the most usable option: For the current part, it would be an undo of the last track; for any other part, it would mean rerecording the part from scratch.

Three parts is about the max that I usually use.

I can see benefits of this approach with some tweaks to handle the mixer/popup menu, overdub versus new track, and a few other features. Not sure you can get there with changes to this design or if there’s another approach.
