Only had tne footswitch in the begining. So long as you’ve arranged your set list in BBM you can just move to next song. Volume is another matter but I never altered the volume from song to song.
" Most of my beats have been grabbed from http://www.midi-hits.com/ and then I use Pro Tools to chop them up into the format for BeatBuddy."
Would you mind explaining that process for a novice in a little deeper detail? Thanks in advance.
I use it every week with my current band consisting of bass, acoustic, lead guitar, and female singer. All four of us sing so we have a LOT of harmony work and cover a pretty wide range of material from rock to country to funk to jazz to blues. We’ve been using this setup since August of 2020.
I play lead guitar and run my guitars through a Helix pedalboard which I also use for controlling the BB. Each song has it’s own dedicated preset on the Helix and each song has a dedicated BB song, so selecting the song on the Helix automatically calls up the specific BB song as well. I can use the snapshot function to simultaneously trigger multiple changes in my guitar tone along with changes to the drum pattern, so one button will move us into a chorus or bridge and then back to a verse with another single button press. It all works seamlessly and perfectly.
Over the last several months I’ve accumulated a wide selection of MIDI drum parts to draw from. If necessary I can modify drum parts in my DAW which is Sonar Platinum. On new songs I’ll design the drum song first based on the original arrangement and then download it to my memory card for the BB. I’ll then design the Helix preset for the song and incorporate the necessary MIDI commands for coordinating the drums with the song.
We use a QSC TM-30 Pro mixing board with two Yamaha DXR12 speakers and a QSC KS112 sub for front of house, along two DXR12’s and one QSC CP8 speaker for stage monitors.
My next planned step, once Aeros and BeatBuddy both get updated to appropriate functionality, will be to incorporate Aeros song loops into the setup as a way to bring in additional instruments such as keyboards, horns or strings into our arrangements coordinated with the BeatBuddy drum parts.
I have created BB drumsets with keyboard, horns and strings (I’m guessing, like a lot of BB users) and use Aeros for overlaying guitar parts (there are just two of us). The drumsets aren’t MIDI ‘legal’, of course, but they work with our original songs. While I’ve been gigging with the BB for quite a few years (why I now have a spare in my gig bag) I’m still tinkering with MM and Aeros (after dumping my Pigtronix Infinity - not literally. I sold it). I love tech (have done my share of programming) but these days I just can’t keep up, and have forgotten much of what I learned so am happy to use BBM rather than a DAW, though I have a few of them too.
how do you turn hi hats and cymbals down ?
can you make bass and drum tracks from this ? How do you elect the kits ?
Thanks
Brent
I been using my BB at least twice a week doing the old 3 x 45min live show thing for many years now. Obviously slowed up a little last March for 6mo that or so. Things are flowing again now here in Australia. I spend lots of time in DAW simplifying intros, beats and fills. I’ve added Tambo & Shakers and other bits to the Brushes kit. I’ve more recently started using a two string pickup so I can play bass ( well kind of ) and guitar at same time. Creates a nice full sound and with the looper makes it a lot of fun to noodle away. Here’s a video from my last gig, Sunday this week.
Cheers

how do you turn hi hats and cymbals down ?
If you want to turn them down in all your songs you can (using BBM) go into the drumset and reduce the volume by up to -50dB. Alternatively, for individual songs, reduce the velocity when editing the song parts (in BBM).
Thanks Terry how do I edit a song part in BBM ?
Thanks
Brent
I use the bb plugged straight into my Yamaha mg10xu mixing board and I play solo acoustic but I’m finding that I need a volume pedal as the bb is too loud on certain presets or too soft on others, I do not program but I have found beats that work well with the classic rock and country that I play. I use the count in intro on all the beats and that works really well and I practice a lot and have very much improved my timing with the fills and outros. I love the bb and continue to build my song lists of songs that just sound incredible with the bb…I get people up dancing more than ever! I am having so much fun with it!
i do gigs 3 times a week. i’m having.lots of trouble equalizing the toms. no matter how much I turn the volume down , the bass frequencies of the tons always explode when I play em.pa and em.high volumes
Yep.
Goran has done an excellent job of capturing the drums as a studio recording, but I find it a bit over the top for live situations – the tom ring just takes over sometimes, especially with subs. I have created a custom kit is essentially a re-EQ’ed, gated version of the original Standard kit, which I think has a much more live-appropriate mix.
I’ve shared the kit on Dropbox, here, if you want to give it a try: Dropbox - Standard_JV_1.0.drm . We find it tames and levels the toms to a point where you can use subs and not get overrun by tom ring. I’ve made a couple of other tweaks, as well, but I don’t actually remember all of them.
You’re welcome to give them a try and let me know what you think.

didn’t know i would have to sign in to privately view the video.
Hi, I am a BB newbie accordion player. I am attempting to build a grouping of German Oktoberfest tunes with my BB.
The season is short and I may not be able to use BB this year for my gigs but would like to.
I normally use MusicReader Pro to house lead sheets when I need them.
The lack of many songs for waltzes and polkas is a little limiting with my newbie skills.
Any sharing of tunes and songs would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
