I’ve downloaded lots of Phil Flood’s drum kits, to use them on lots of user generated OPB and OPBk songs that I’ve downloaded from the forum mostly from persist and Phil Flood.
When I load these OPB and OPBk songs in BBMO 2, I made sure that I’ve selected the suggested drum kits for the song version that I use for my BeatBuddy 2, click save, then I sync my SD card.
I’m not sure what am I doing wrong , but some of the OPB and OPBk songs are using a different drum kit, even though I’ve assigned these particular songs to use their suggested drum kits, before I click save in BBMO and syncing my SD card, as I have mentioned before.
What I will do for now, is to make a list of the OPb and OPBk songs with their suggested drum kits so that when I’m playing, I know which drum kit to choose in my BeatBuddy until someone can give me some advice on how to fix this.
I will also add a volume level for each song that is roughly the same level as my amplified acoustic guitar and vocal mic sound on my list because the volume level differences in the songs are quite big, there are songs that are quite loud that I have to dial down the Beatbuddy volume knob to just 10, and there are songs that I have to dial up the volume knob to 70. I just don’t know how to make the songs volume level on roughly the same volume in an easy way, without adjusting the volume of the drum kit as Daniel from Singular Sound support have recommended to me, hopefully, they can add a volume level for each song that you can adjust and save in BBMO without messing around the volume of the drum kit or velocity. maybe in the next BBMO update?
I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful, generous people in the forum, especially persist, Phil Flood and Daniel from Singular Sound support, for giving their tips, advice, recommendations, accepting song requests and sharing their drum kits and songs that they’ve created to the forum community. they’re very much appreciated! Thank you very much!
When you are using one press songs and custom drumkits, it may be better to duplicate the drumkit, give it a new name that associates it with the song, and then set the volume level and save the project. You will still be able to save about 300 to 350 song and drumkit combinations on a 32gb card. With BB2 high def kits, the number of songs and kits would obviously decrease.
That’s a great idea! I will do exactly what you have suggested, I’m going to temporarily remove those OPBk songs that I’ve added in BBMO and SD card. In BBMO, I’m going to duplicate those custom drum kits that are associated with that song and rename that kit for that song, lower the volume, then save it.
That’s better than making volume adjustments on my BeatBuddy for every song, and that’s the reason why I purchased the footswitch +, so I don’t have to keep bending over to change to the next song.
Hopefully that will also fix the wrong drum kit for songs problem that I’m having despite assigning the suggested drum kit and saving and syncing my card with BBMO.
That’s ok if I can only fit around 300-350 songs on a 32gb card, I can only play around 70-80 songs on guitar anyway, at the moment, I only have about 35-40 songs on my SD card and hopefully I will add more if I can find those songs that still I’m looking for in the forum, not including the songs and drum kits that comes pre-loaded on the card and also the 2 drum kits and Abbey Groove album that I’ve purchased from Beat Boutique. And yes, I’m using a 32gb card.
That is my process. I now make a custom kit for every song. It makes everything easier. I organize the songs into setlist folders, and back them up. When a card is nearly full, I export setlists to archival storage,
I also organise my songs into setlist even though I’m just playing at home by myself, but what a difference having a BeatBuddy makes to my guitar playing, it feels more engaging and enjoyable, as if like you’re playing along with a band!
Thank you very much for the tip, your process is very efficient, songs are easier to manage and organise especially if you have lots of it saved in your card.
I will temporarily remove all the OPB and OPBk songs that I’ve downloaded and saved in my card, I will duplicate, assign and adjust the drum kit volume that’s suggested to be used for a particular song, then save it, repeat the process until I’ve returned back all the songs, with all of them roughly have the same volume level.
Not quite sure what’s going on so hopefully this suggestion might help when you’re previewing new songs. Try importing the suggested drum set first and then import the song; that way, the imported song should display with the proper kit already selected. If the issue is still happening even with this slight change to your workflow, DM me with the title of the song and the drum set that’s not saving.
I may have an idea as to why that is happening. About a couple of months ago, I’ve started a thread in the forum about a problem I was having regarding downloadable user generated content songs in the forum that comes bundled in a folder with different versions of the songs in OPB and OPBk, MIDI files, cheat sheet and lyrics of the song with chords in PDF format. For some unknown reason, I’m having trouble importing the majority of those songs that comes bundled in a folder with multiple files in it, whenever I import those songs in BBMO 2 that I’ve mentioned earlier, BBMO 2 will freeze, and won’t respond to any keyboard taps and mouse clicks, the only thing that it will respond to is if I close the web browser which is Google Chrome. But it doesn’t happen to all of the songs, I managed to load very few.
I’ve had several email correspondences with Daniel from Singular Sound support regarding this problem, and he managed to recreate my problem in his end and the solution he found was to use BBMO 1 to load those songs I’m having problem with, save it then go back to BBMO 2 to add those songs in my setlist or make any adjustments if needed, then I can sync my card and indeed, that worked for me.
And I think that’s where the problem of the OPB and OPBk songs not using the suggested drum kit happens, even though I’ve assigned the suggested drum kit to it and saved it, because I’ve imported the suggested drum kit and the songs in BBMO 1, so when I open up the song using BBMO 2, those custom drum kits that I’ve imported in BBMO 1 are not there in BBMO 2, though I don’t know why that’s happening.
What I will try, and I hope it will work is to re-import those suggested drum kit and re-assign those drum kits individually suggested for each song in BBMO 2.
If that doesn’t work, I will definitely message you with the title of the song and the drum kit that is not saving.
