I am using a midi controller to scroll through folders but I can not load the song without starting playback, which I do not want. However, I have seen videos online where people will scroll through a folder and stop on a highlighted song and after a few seconds it will load that song without them needing to push the knob. Why doesn’t my BB2 do that?
More info: when I scroll through songs in the folder I’m currently playing from the BB2 will automatically load the song, but it doesn’t start until I press start. I want to be able to move to a new folder and load a song without it starting until I’m ready. Is there an alternative way to achieve this? Or is there a reason my BB2 isn’t just loading the song when I pause on it?
Hello,
The BeatBuddy 2 requires a press-and-hold of the right main button to open a song.
The left button serves as the master control and will close the folder list when held or when CC:120 is sent without releasing.
If you tap the left button, it will move up by one.
Currently, there is no MIDI command available to select a song; the right button on the BeatBuddy 2 is necessary for that function.
You can easily advance to the next song or go back to the previous one within a folder using the MIDI Maestro. Additionally, you can organize your songs into a playlist using the BeatBuddy Manager Online.

If the song automatically starts when you open it, please let us know which MIDI command you are sending to the BB2. If possible, please also send a short video of the issue here or to support@singularsound.com, including a link to this forum thread. Thank you.

Just to clarify, when I scroll through songs in the folder I’m currently using it will automatically preload the song without starting playback. It’s when I want to switch folders (like for a second set), I can’t load a song from that new folder without starting playback.
I’m using cc118 to enter/exit folders. Then cc119 to scroll up/down. But then I’m stuck. Are you saying I can hold the right BB switch (the pause button) to load the song?
I’ve been using cc114 to start playback, which works if I’m ready to start the song immediately, but I usually don’t want to do that.
Ok, now that I’m home from work I was able to test it and I can hold down on the right footswitch to load the song without starting play back (which, of course, you knew already); so thank you! I missed that in the manual, or maybe just didn’t understand what I was reading. I appreciate it. This solved my problem.
