hmmmm. so i need to have the play for # match the bars, then. makes sense, now that i see it
many thanks.
I am so excited because i have sheet music for many of the covers we do as a duo (bass and guitar) and im gonna code up drum parts. still learning…
Hey welcome to the Singular Sound Forum. We’ve got some great people here, and a staff who can answer any question you may have concerning any of the SS products.
Does your sheet music include a stave for the drum part?
If so, you could use Claude (possibly another AI LLM would work, but I doubt as well), to generate midi files for each part. You’ll have to tell the AI which drums fit each point on the stave, and where the BB drum set you’re using diverges from the General MIDI standard.
I did this very successfully to build an autopilot song. The keys to success are 1) The clearest possible images of each page, 2) telling Claude how to distinguish each part of the song (it can understand DS al Coda and lots of other musical symbols, but the way publishers distinguish song parts may differ) and 3) a willingness to fill in what’s wrong when Claude can’t clearly read measures.
I got extremely satisfying results that are very close to the original recorded drum track. It was eminently worth my time.
I saved a Claude “skill” for the given book of songs as the drum part for each is transcribed the same way. A skill encodes the details of how a process works so that Claude can repeat with other content without further training. When you know that many songs have the same patterns, this can be a huge time saver. You can even give it a skill that works for one publisher and tell it the differences for another publisher, leveraging the work more effectively.
To my mind, this is a much better use of AI than having it compose, arrange or actually score music.
I’m 70 and have been retired/disabled for 20 years. I’m not a drum literate person, and it’s not easy figuring this all out, but we have a dedicated staff, and especially Persist our moderator.
a year shy of 70, retired also, so impressed with moderator, and all members, and barely drum literate, cannot say enough good things about moderator who have made the learning curve less steep. I have “coded” in 3 songs already, 2 covers and one original. needing to try it with my guitarist husband (i play bass). hoping to have our BB drummer with us for 2027 gigs. We are thrilled that our bb drummer can play at volumes acceptable for small venues and does not have an attitude.
I know what you mean about a drummer with an attitude, or way to loud wanabe hard rock drummer wanting to hype up everyone to their level. I have a bunch of songs I’ve written that I want to record, and I want drums on them. I’m still not able to utilize the BBMO for changing the drm files to suite my needs. I have had my BB2 for almost 10 months, and I have the 6 button super switch too. I’m just not crazy about having to push a button or foot pedal to do fills, verse’s, chorus’s, turnarounds, and outros, and doing this while playing guitar, using my Digitech live 5 vocalist, and singing all at the same time. What do you mean you have “coded” the songs?
Can’t answer for him but you’re not crazy about pushing buttons to move between the various BeatBuddy 2 song sections. The way around this is to email Support, support@singularsound.com and ask for help on setting up and using Autopilot which will pretty much allow you to set up your song so it plays all the way thru without having to tap dance.
I used BBMO (beat buddy manager on line) and added intro, tracks, etc. Songster an online access to tabs for many many tunes is what i use to learn bass parts for songs, and discovered that there are drum “tabs” and i have been creating songs and copying the drum tab in by clicking on the beats in each measure, mimickig the drum notes shown it the tab.
