Is there a way to have the manager start with no project so I could select the one I want. I have a few different project files and it would be easier not to have to wait for a project to load that I don’t need.

Too easy.
BBM > File > New Project and give it a name like Quick. Save Project. Whenever you want to open one of your existing projects, File > Open Project.
The other option is to stick with your existing BBM project and not quit the BBM. Of course, this only works if you don’t restart or power your computer down o_O
