BB Mini Limitations

Hi folks, I’ve had a BeatBuddy pretty well since they first came out and absolutely love it. I’ve written loads of rhythms for the songs I do and have them all stored in my BeatBuddy Manager on my Mac (I’m old school and haven’t switched to the online version yet).
I’m now teaching a guy to play guitar and he wants a drum machine to play along with. He can’t afford a full BeatBuddy… Am I right in thinking that - if he got a BeatBuddy Mini - you can only play the rhythms that are built into it. Or would I be able to link it up to my BB Manager and download my songs for him to practice with?

You can’t change the content of the mini. It’s basically a real nice metronome.

Yes, your solution of giving him access to your songs is definitely the right approach! If he can’t afford a BeatBuddy, he can still use the BeatBuddy Manager software on his computer to play along with your custom rhythms. He doesn’t need to own a BeatBuddy pedal for this-he can simply load your songs into the software and use it as a drum machine while practicing guitar. This way, he gets all the benefits of your custom beats without needing to buy the hardware. Great idea!
I actually did the same thing myself for a few months before I bought my own Singular Sound gear. Using the BeatBuddy Manager on my computer allowed me to practice with custom rhythms and songs, which was really helpful while I was waiting to get the hardware. It’s a great way to get started!

Would be nice to have a BB Mini that had the full feature set of the bigger BB.

Good idea, I’ll see what access he has to a computer. Thanks

It would indeed, but I suppose putting the features back in just turns it back into the BB Full! :slightly_smiling_face:

You can only use the pre installed patterns, but that still gives a hell of a lot. I used a BBmini for performing live for several years and still have it as a backup. Someone commented that it’s just a nice metronome… except that it still has the intros, outros, fills, transitions and if you get the foot switch it’s even better.

Thanks very much, he’s practicing with a programmable app I found for the moment. I think he wants to save up and buy the full Beatbuddy in the long run.
