I had hoped that Singular Sound would make an effort to cater to non-geek users :(! We’ve repeatedly requested that folder navigation be assigned to the “Drum Set” button because NO ONE ever changes their drum set during a concert.
However, in “Stage” or rehearsal mode, the average user will appreciate being able to navigate in the current folder open and switch between songs without using the tab keys.
It’s frustrating, but Beat Buddy remains a tool for tech enthusiasts and makes no effort to make this otherwise excellent pedal user-friendly.
In addition to using an external footswitch or MIDI, you can press the Tempo knob to open the current folder, you can also press the left or right arrows to open either the folder list or the current folder
For this reason, we will not be changing the functions of the drum set knob
I DO NOT consider myself a “tech guy”. Correspondingly, it took almost a year, with the most excellent assistance from the good folks on the forum, to really figure out how to use my Beat Buddy. And, since 2022, I have been regularly gigging with my Beat Buddy as an accompanist for several shows a year. Be patient with yourself and the talented people on this forum. Good luck!
Someone trying a simple request mor thand 3 min. is geek.
We use two drum pedal
Kork 55 Pro
Try to make acceptation of Beat Buddy
Guess whitch one is more used ?
People try to navigate logically, not “BeatBuddyly”
And having to buy an extra pedal to correct a conceptual “blunder” is asking too much. Nobody, absolutely, changes their DrumKit, but everyone tries to transition from one song to another.
For what it’s worth, I use ~44 different Drum Kits in at a gig. With any system one needs to understand the vernacular in order to properly use it. In the Beat Buddy, different Drum Kits have different midi triggers. Some have keys. Some have horns. Some have fiddle. A Beat Buddy Drum Kit is a series of midi triggers not like a live drummer changing his kit for every song. It’s more like changing the instrumentation for every song. Like I do! I play 4 different instruments. My Wife (in our duo) plays like 20!
