What is Autopilot? I read the marketing blurb but what’s the bottom line and what is the worth of it?
Autopilot = Intelligent Automatic Sequencer
Autopilot allows you to pre-program the sequence of song parts (intro, verses, choruses, fills, outro, etc.), and the BB2 plays this sequence autonomously, with no manual intervention needed during performance, just like the Digitech Trio+.
Hybrid Control: Automatic and Interactive
Even in Autopilot mode, you retain the ability to take control at any time:
You can trigger a fill, extend or shorten a section, or even end the song whenever you want.
This combines the freedom of a backing track with the interactivity of a drum machine.
For Live Performances or Rehearsals
The main advantage is freeing the musician from foot-controlled part changes, while still allowing for real-time improvisation or structural changes.
Programmed via the New BeatBuddy Manager Online
The BB2 video highlights that Autopilot sequences are programmed through a dedicated software tool, making the creation of custom songs simpler and more powerful.
If you’re a solo or duo act covering tunes with fixed structures, that’s a big deal: you keep both hands on your instrument and still get a dynamic drum track instead of a flat one‑press MIDI file. For players who like to ad‑lib the arrangement on the spot, it matters less—Autopilot can’t predict a jam that isn’t pre‑mapped—so the value really depends on how scripted your set lists are.
I like scripted songs. Will the library of auto pilot songs be comprehensive eventually?
Yes, all artist songs will be autopilot enabled when released in the Beat Boutique and new songs are on the way.
Thanks for the question!
Will autopilot be released on the BB v1 for all of us that have been waiting for the last seven years for it, in my case when I purchased the BB + footswitch and the complete premium library the BB was advertised on the website with “Autopilot Coming Soon“!
Unfortunately, that ship has sailed. I wouldn’t expect Singular to make autopilot available on the BB V1, it would undercut V2 sales. Maybe wait and see how autopilot settles out and upgrade to V2 and sell V1? With that said, I feel your pain.
You are probably right, but after being burned the first time I’ll not buy anything else from them. Certainly not the best part of £500 not knowing if the autopilot is any good ![]()
