BBMO log in/sign up

Why do we need to “signin” to BBMO now to work on a project?

Hi Mark,

This was a company decision to unify Beat Boutique and BBMO into a single system, which helps provide a more consistent and seamless experience when working on projects.

Nice marketing jargon  . Could you elaborate on how this makes this more seamless? It was pretty seamless before where I just went to the BBMO and did my changes.

Tip-toe steps towards an app subscription model :face_with_crossed_out_eyes:

…that would be unfortunate.

Wow Daniel, I just read the T&C, are they for real? We effectively have to accept and say that we will do nothing wrong, and it clearly states:
We do not guarantee that the BBMO Outputs will be compatible with future releases of the BeatBuddy or other Products.

You (Singular Sound) made the BeatBuddy and you manage the BBMO, how can the above statement make us consumers feel wanted for anything other than a source of revenue? I sure as hell hope that you guarantee that future releases of BBMO will be compatible with the existing BeatBuddy.

I have to disagree with MarkF48, these are giant steps towards a subscription model and the Apple mentality. At least Apple stand by their products.

All I want/need is a method to work with the product I paid lots of money for. I’m a bedroom player, I don’t earn any money from my playing, it is my outlet for destressing my life. What if I don’t ever want to use the Store, you are forcing it on us.

Disappointed!

In some ways having to signing in to the app makes the app no longer free. Email addresses can be harvested and sold to marketers. Having to enter a security code to open the app confirms that it’s a legit email that a marketer could use. BBMO uses Shopify to login. Shopify has a ‘feature’ called ‘email capture’. This drops a cookie onto your computer. What the cookie may or may not do other than keep you logged in I haven’t a clue. I’ve resolved that when I do log into BBMO, which is seldom, I’ll use an extra email address that sees little use and one I use as a ‘junk’ email’ repository.

At present I have no interest in Beat Boutique content and it’s just extra baggage that distracts from the purpose of the app. If I should want any further SS content I know where to find it and I don’t really want it pushed in my face.

I can pretty much say with certainty that I will not purchase a BB2. I don’t need it’s ‘enhanced’ features and the BB original serves my purposes more than adequately and BB2 price puts it out of reasonable reach for me. An app subscription which I doubt would happen wouldn’t be my biggest concern, but if SS ever ceased to exist and BBMO went away altogether, I would then be essentially the owner of a BB2 with presets that couldn’t be edited.

Hi everybody,

On the log in requirement, the goal is to make the Singular Sound ecosystem more connected and reliable for customers. An account helps us do things like securely manage access to your content, keep your setup tied to you, and improve support when something goes wrong. One complaint we have gotten over the years is that we have different login systems for our website shop, the digital content and the forum. We’re doing our best to unite these systems for a better customer experience and less confusion.

Regarding the Terms and Conditions, that line is legal language meant to protect against unknown future issues, not a statement that we intend to drop compatibility. BBMO supports BB1 and we plan to keep BB1 compatibility for the foreseeable future. BBMO is completely free and we intend to keep it that way. We are currently exploring the possibility of making an offline version of the BBMO, but this has not been decided on yet.

Thank you all for expressing your concerns, we take them to heart and will continue doing our best to take care of our beloved community. :musical_notes: :revolving_hearts: :musical_notes:

Thanks David, can you also confirm the line that says “You must not transmit any worms or viruses or any code of a destructive nature.” is ONLY relevant if it is intentional. That is not clear in any of the T&C’s.

Surely if my computer gets infected with some worm that I am not aware of and through the action of logging into your ecosystem, that is transmitted to your ecosystem, it is not my fault. I pay for and have running at all time Ad Blockers and Anti Virus software, but that is provided by a third party, and I rely on them staying up to date. But there is nothing in the T&C about “intentional” or “intentionally”. The same way as I rely on the provider of my AV, we rely on you (Singular Sound) to get it right, to do the due diligence before releasing something, but the T&C mentions nothing about what happens if you don’t, all it says is you don’t guarantee, a get out of jail free statement if I’ve ever heard one.

Unfortunately most T&C document are blatantly written in favour of the group who wrote it. So lets go further, I don’t want to receive correspondence about new products or sales, but I want to continue using my BeatBuddy and modifying MIDI files as I do with the OPB songs I write. Do you guarantee that I will not get spammed after I sign up? That there is a simple method to opt out of spam. Make sure that area is clearly articulated in the T&C and I don’t have an issue.

Please don’t misunderstand my “outburst” David, but If I have to register to get access to BBMO, it is only free in the immediate sense of $. But, in the same breath, making a stand alone version sounds great in principle, but then you will run into the issue of how do we get updates. Sounds good, but not really viable for your organisation I don’t think.

Thanks for your message. The line you mentioned is mainly meant to cover intentional actions, while it’s highly unlikely that your computer would unknowingly transmit a virus to our system, we always recommend keeping your antivirus and security software up to date.

Regarding communications, you can opt out of product updates or promotional emails at any time.

Thanks for your feedback!

Thanks Daniel, that is comforting to know. I guess only time will tell now.

Cheers, Graham
