BBMO Request: Master Volume For Individual Songs and Drums

I wish there was a way to adjust the master volume for a song file and by extension, a way to adjust the master volume for individual drums in a song file. There are times when I want the punchy timbre of the higher velocity sample, but I don’t want the VOLUME of the higher velocity sample.

This would also provide an easy way to even out the drum set volumes over an enter set of songs.

Thank you for your feedback and request! I’ve forwarded it to the team for consideration.

I have asked this before because of the same issue that you have. It would be like normalizing all the songs to a single volume and then being able to turn it up.

You can change the volume of a drumset in BBM.

Would love a per song master volume also.

Gets cumbersome changing the velocity’s to all the parts and fills to get an even volume through a whole set. Even with the same drum sets the velocity come in a lot different for different songs.

Yes, I too have asked for this before, especially the ability to set the volume for each kit piece. Personally, I’d be fine with having to do this via MIDI controller within the song file (assuming that would not only be the easiest way to implement this, it would also allow you to change the levels mid-song. Again, the reason this would be far better than the current option of using note velocity is to be able to, for instance, preserve the character of a high velocity hit while reducing its volume.

I have figured out how to adjust the Master Volume using MIDI through OnSong. Commands follow the syntax, CC[Number]:[Value]@[MIDI Channel], such as CC108:63@2 = Master Volume at 63%.

The good news is that it IS possible to control the Master Volume via MIDI using CC commands. The bad news is that if you go that route, you have to write a CC command for every song. If the first song’s Master volume is set at 63% via CC:108:63, then the following songs will stay at 63% unless you manually change it or send a new CC command with each song.

Having a master volume in the song file would be much simplier.
