So when i installed the BB software I notice now I have a BBWorkspace folder. What is this for and do I need to do anything with that?
The bbworkspace bbworkspace folder should be located in your user/documents folder. It holds the your BeatBuddy (BB) project data. Your project is located within the bbworkspace/user_lib/projects folder.
The BBM and BBMO manage your content and there are two takeaways:
- Do not use your computer operating system to open or manage your project content. Use only the BBM or the BBMO. There is usually no need to go digging around the the bbworkspace folder or its sub-folders.
- Do not store other files in the bbworkspace folder. They should be kept outside of the BBW folder, Donāt use it for storage of say songs or kits that have already been imported using the BBM or BBMO.
As a further note, please be aware that the BeatBuddy Manager Legacy Version (the downloadable BBManager) is no longer supported, so any bugs you encounter with it will not be fixed. We recommend using the BBMO, our latest tool for managing BB content.
I AM USING BBM, I HAVE LOOKED AT BBMO BUT IT SEEMS THERE ARE SO MANY BUGS AND PROBLEMS THAT I AM AFRAID TO MESS UP WHAT I ALREADY HAVE.
Did you encounter the bugs by yourself or are you like me and youāre afraid of the bugs since through the forum it looks like BBMO is pretty much unusable?
I have no idea how well the BBMO works currently as the last time I needed some modifications I opted for BBM instead
I need BBM/BBMO few times per year Would need more often if I had time to do more complex stuff
I have been using beat buddy as my drummer both live and practice for 8+ years and havenāt had an issue until recently. Iāve never upgraded from the original and until a few months ago all was fine. I constantly add new songs and rearrange set lists in bbm and export to sd card and a back up sd card. one time I got the spinning wheel while exporting to sd and after about 15 minutes of spinning I hit abort. this blanked bbm and the sd card so I inserted my back up sd to import that but bbm blanked that too. I lost everything! premium content, premium drum sets as well as all my songs. I looked everywhere on my computer and could not find my original project and I had a gig in 3 days. I had to start over and I was able to get enough music to do the show, with a lot of talking to the audience. now I am seeing that they may not support bbm and I should switch to bbmo but I am reading many complaints about bbmo. I love and depend on my beatbuddy for income and Iām a little worried.
Iāve stayed with BBM as it is stable and has caused me no problems. One thing I donāt care for with BBMO is that if a SS issues a new version to improve or fix a bug, the users seem to become the ātestersā to see if all is good. If a bug is found within the new version there is no way to revert to a previous version that worked for what you were doing.
Sorry to hear that youāre having issues. You should be able to retrieve your premium library content by contacting Support, support@singularsound.com
I use a Mac and the reason I started using the BBMO is because the BBM became progressively functionally slower with each macOS update. To me the critical flaw with the Mac version of the BBM was that has been unable to sync to the SD card for years and even though I used a workaround to get the job done, I realized the Mac version of the BBM was living on borrowed time. I chose to migrate on my terms rather than have to cope with the inevitable when it happened.
Although I like using the BBMO, I agree that not being able to work offline is not ideal. So far almost all of the bugs Iāve reported have not been show stoppers and Singular Sound has been working to fix most of them. Some but not all of the ābugsā users are reporting are not bugs but problems created from behind the keyboard. . Iād suggest at least making a copy of your project and giving the BBMO a whirl. Let us know what you think. If you find that itās not for you, you will still have your original BBM project in your bbworkspace folder.
thank you ,I will try all of that. as stated I love my beatbuddy and depend on it to make a living
