Beat Buddy 1 MIDI Pause/Unpause sync issue

Hi. I can find lots of old posts about this issue with specific loopers, but no sign of a solution.

I’m using BeatBuddy 1 with the final firmware. I’m using the BeatBuddy foot switch, and it’s set to pause whilst playing. When I press again to unpause, the beat is out of sync with the loop.

I’m almost certain that with a looper I’ve used in the past, this has gone back into sync seamlessly, but not with the looper on the TC Helicon VL3X that I’m using at the moment.

Syncing works great prior to pausing. And of course, if I hit the unpause at exactly the right time, it goes back into sync, but really that’s somewhat defeating the purpose of the MIDI sync.

MIDI Out:
Sync: Always on
Start: Main beat

  1. Is this an issue it’s possible to overcome with a BB configuration?
  2. If yes, please share and put me out of my looping misery.
  3. If this is a can’t fix in BB1, is it resolved in BB2?

Hi,

This function works as expected while using the Aeros Loop Studio while the BB is the MIDI master.

To solve this using a third-party looper, you can use the BeatBuddy’s (or BeatBuddy 2’s) Mute Pause function when the BB is set as the MIDI slave. You’ll find it under Settings → Main Pedal → Mute Pause. This should help keep your beats in sync with your looper when pausing and resuming.

Thanks. I need BB to be the MIDI master.

I tried the Mute Pause function whilst BB is MIDI master and it seems to work.

Thanks for your reply.
