Why would the BB need to convert the guitar audio to digital and then back? This is not a pedal that processes the input guitar signal. It’s effectively a mixer that can add the drums to the guitar.
Perhaps there’s a future feature that will take advantage of the digital audio? Maybe something that listens to the audio and plays a matching beat? Maybe a simple looper?
Thank you for your question! The digital dry-through feature is simply part of how the unit is built. There is no secret feature attached to it at this time, but we’re always exploring new possibilities for future updates!

Both the BB1 and BB2 have a digital dry-through with a latency of 2ms.

Very much surprised that this device has any ADC. Seems like an analog mixer (perhaps with digital control of the mix/volume) would be better, cheaper, faster!
