BeatBuddy Firmware Update! Control how drunk your BeatBuddy gets and more! Version 1.85

Did this video ever get released, and does it cover Autopilot as noted? I just read about Autopilot on another thread related to the Cue Fill and would like to find out more about the feature but I’m not having luck finding much.

Hi JN99. I don’t think it’s been released yet but I believe it will be when the new versions are released. The developers should be doing their finishing touches to the BeatBuddy Manager.

Dear Bill Smith,

I’m a recovering addict with 27 and 1/2 years clean from drugs and alcohol. I too am a “successful professional” with a list of credentials and hope that you consider my opinion just as valid as your opinion.

Being in bands, finding compatable non-smoking, drinking, drugging musicians has been a very difficult experience. Then again, removing substances from the equation still leaves all the other variables of being a human being. Beat Buddy is my newest attempt to compensate for a shortage of local compatable musicians.

I could care less about the drunk drummer terminology. I perceive it to be a humerous moniker for the technical process “Quantization”. It is an attempt at humor, something I find very useful in my recovery.

As I see it, it is not glorifying abuse of alcohol or promoting unsafe alcohol consumption. It is a cutesy attempt to appeal to the “typical” musician that may consume alcohol or have a band member with a colorful history of alcohol related behavior.

In other words, lots of people drink alcohol and can have a good time without destroying their life or hurting anyone else. Just because you and I lack the capacity to drink safely does not mean that I/we should be judgemental toward the people who can and do. Personally, I avoid drunks now. I recognize that abstinence is for me and not a value or expectation to be inflicted upon someone else.

Lighten up, I say. There are serious issues associated with this topic, but I don’t think this particular marketing phraseology rises to the level of a Social/Moral atrocity necessitating a righteous crusade.

I have BB Manager Version 1.64. Is there an update to this one, and if so, where?
Sincerely, Fingerstylepicker…

Nothing that I’m aware of. Do not use the autoupdater under BBM > Tools; it’s a minor fix for Mac users.

Thanks for replying. When I download a new version or update I always go to the forum and download it to my computer and then install it from there. I learned not to use the auto-update.

Persist, I want to thank you for all the help and the close relationship you have with the support team. It is much appreciated.
Sincerely, Fingerstylepicker.

You are most welcome.

Do you know when they will impliment the Midi editor for the BB Manager? It does not have any highlighted features as of yet.
Is there another update coming in the near future? Just would like to know. I am still using Beat Builder and Anvil to edit the contents in the BB Manager at present.
Sincerely, Fingerstylepicker.

The midi editor that’s in the latest version works. Right-click on a section of a song that you want to edit. A sub-menu appears. Select Edit and it takes you to the Midi Editor window (and the functions in the Midi Editor menu along the top of BBM will become active).

While I say that it “works,” it’s really not suitable for much more than very light midi editing although some users seem to like it for it’s simplicity.

Thank You Sir! It is very much appreciated. Didn’t know how to use it but I do now. I will give it a try. Just to let you know, for very precise time editing, the Anvil program works quite well to getting things “Exact” and that’s what I was looking for. It’s really hard sometimes when you are a perfectionist. I probably spend more time getting things right than I do anything else. Sometimes it takes me a long time to get a recording just the way I want it to sound. I do, however, take pride in my music and the way it turns out. I guess it’s all a part of being a good musician. I don’t think I ever play a song the same way twice. There is always a better way.
Anyway, thanks for your help. Play like there is no tomorrow.
Sincerely, Stan House, Fingerstylepicker.

Do you see being drunk and being an alcoholic as the same thing? Are they not mutually exclusive? Everyone is so sensitive. I have a very good friend that is 18 years sober now. He does NOT drink. He recognizes that some people can drink and get drunk without being affected by the disease of alcoholism, as he was, and most sane people would see it the same way. In a world with so much negativity, what happened to levity? I’ll not use the feature, but appreciate the effort to make light of not only a serious topic, but an issue that many people in bands have had to deal with. Luckily with this feature, the real drummer won’t have to get drunk, as the pedal will simulate his off timing and sloppy play. Lighten up. Don’t like the feature don’t use it. Keep up the good work, but lay off the pulpit. Not everyone that drinks, gets drunk or plays drunk is an alcoholic.

In my opinion , it is a useless and impractical waste off time. I want my performance to be as tight as possible, if I saw someone sounding like crap because the drum machine they were using was malfunctioning, i would not be back to see that performer again. If I had a drummer that was drinking too much during a gig,I would replace them. There is too much competition out there.

I love the drunk function, i use it when teaching, i get guitarists to try to play along to show the importance of a good solid drummer, and also to prepare the younger pupils for the real world.
I also use it on my own bands drummer, as i usually record our shows and i know he’s ‘had a few’ that night i replace his tracks in my DAW with in my the beat buddy drunk drummer and watch his face when i play it back, :o) his reaction is normally “FFS! but hey they sound great, lets go the pub and celebrate”

Does this firmware change anything on the footswitch? I like the way the original settings on the pause/start one press . I don’t want that to change!

Read about the changes here: http://mybeatbuddy.com/firmware/

Tipsy could make something like just claps or tambourine backing up a single guitar sound more human - less mechanical.

Now that’s an interesting idea

Hi,
