Neat idea!
Please mind that if you want to keep outros on for the BeatBuddy songs but only disable it to Stop the song when paused and tapping the external switch, set your BeatBuddy as follows:
Settings > 1st/2nd footswitch function > While Paused > Outro
Settings > Main Pedal > External Unpause > Outro Stops Song
All this does is restart the song!
I would like to add a vote to be able to assign the single tap of the MAIN pedal to stop the song, while it is playing. That is more important to me than accent fill. Thank you!
so… how many people have to ask this for how many years before someone does something about it? 
adding my vote for this feature, too. especially as a keyboard player trying to do these controls with my hands, a single-tap on/off on the main pedal mounted in front of me is critical.
While this feature isn’t available on the main footswitch, you can achieve this functionality using the Footswitch+ or MIDI Maestro. Both can be programmed to play the outro with a single tap.
What people are asking for is not to start the outro on a tap, but to STOP the song IMMEDIATELY on a tap… I get around this failure in the BB by sending a midi command from my Morningstar midi controller. I then have proper control over the BB and don’t have to wait for a bar to complete before the BB stops (or starts playing an outro which I forgot to delete).
In other words, users are asking for a toggle to Start and (immediately) Stop a song using a single tap.
Is this something that could be set up as an option in the pedal settings?
Would you mind sharing your MIDI sequence from the Morningstar so users that have a MIDI controller can take advantage of your workaround?
I start BB playing with CC114 value of 127 on BB midi channel
Second press of the switch sends a MIDI STOP command which stops BB instantly
You can follow these steps:
1.) Press the Drum Set and Tempo knobs simultaneously to access the settings menu.
2.) Select “Main Pedal.”
3.) Within the Main Pedal settings, locate the “Outro” option and disable it.
4.) Return to the settings menu and select “Footswitch” option and select “Footswitch #1 Function.”
5.) Choose “Paused - Outro Fill” to ensure that the beat is stopped when using the first footswitch after pausing.
This will prevent the beat from automatically restarting after it’s been stopped.
By following these steps, you’ll be able to pause the song with the second footswitch and finish it without an outro using the first footswitch (only when the beat is paused). If you decide you want to include the outro at a later time, you can always enable it again in the Main Pedal settings.
Another solution is going to the Settings - Main Pedal - “Start Beat” and set it to “Release”. This way, when you pause the song with the footswitch, holding down the main pedal will clear/finish the song. Both methods achieve the desired outcome, but this one preserves the footswitch’s other function.
Perhaps my idea from January 13th, “FOOTSW.INI, Footswitch configuration, Live setup,” and also my hardware configuration with BeatBuddy and a 2-button footswitch, “Preparing a BeatBuddy with a cheap Ampero footswitch (dual footswitch) for the stage,” from January 30th, 2026, can help.
While this doesn’t solve the problem with the BeatBuddy itself, the external 2-button switch allows you to stop the song at any point. However, I’ve noticed situations where this still doesn’t work.
If I remember correctly, this happens when the entire song is configured as an intro or outro in the BeatBuddy Manager. You’ll have to try it out and then perhaps move the song to the main section.
