Can I install and use full backing tracks on BB2?

Is it possible to install and use pre-made audio backing tracks on the BB2? or IE use it as an audio player?

Yes, but the process is a little more complex than just importing a song. Phil_Flood has posted a great tutorial on how to create and use backing tracks for the BeatBuddy (BB) pedal and it will work with the BB2 as well.

If you want to try it, you can search the forum for “backing track” and it should get several songs that I’ve posted. The process involves importing the drum set that goes along with the song.

cool, thanks - I will do that search and check it!

yes, quite complicated and not as straightforward as I thought.

I have recently dove into this. While you can Import whole complete Wav files of songs I find it way more practical to import in song sections - not only for rehearsal of specific sections but because the WAV needs to play out completely. If using a whole tune you would have to wait for the song to end to do anything (unless you power off). The challenge is if backing is not cut to a click and you are trying to match with internal beats/grooves.

You can stop the backing track from playing by switching to another song.

wow ok - good to know thanks - still a stop all would seem to make sense no ? So far the bb2 has been great for running tracks (i use acoustic etc behind solos ) and has been solid.

I just noticed that doing that causes unstable playback when doing in BBMO. It forces me to reload bbmo everytime.

Hmmm. Sorry to hear that. Don’t seem to have that problem with my backing tracks and the BBMO.

It’s important to point out for the benefit of other users that backing tracks and one-press songs are a hack of the BeatBuddy (BB) that was never part of the original design intent.

I just tested it using BBMO 1.5.6 and BBMO 2.0.3 and it seems to work fine however, if I get in a rush by changing to another song during playback and immediately clicking on the backing track and start playing, the backing track will sound slightly off-beat. So when you stop the backing track by switching to another song, let the screen on the BBMO refresh (maybe catch your breath and count to three?) and then start playing the backing track again.

I see you’ve posted a feature request so let’s see what Singular Sound is willing to do with it.
