Can I rename a drum kit?

If I wanted to rename a drum kit, but keep all of the instruments the same, would need to go back and change the drum set for all of the other songs that use that drum kit as the default?

I just tested it.

If you’re using the BBMO, no, they should all change automatically.

Here’s how I tested:

  • Export two default content drum sets to desktop
  • Export 3 default content folders using the Standard drum set to desktop
  • Created a new project
  • Imported the two drum sets and the three folders from the desktop
  • Renamed the Standard drum set to StandardCH
  • The drum set name automatically changed in all three folders from Standard to StandardCH
  • Saved Project
  • Quit and then launched the BBMO to see if the change held—it did.

I did not test beyond this, e.g., with dozens of folders or using the user-created drum sets. Should be easy enough to try using my process. If it doesn’t work, you can always Undo any changes (I tested that, too).

Let us know if you discover something different.

Thanks - I tried it out. Worked for some but not all songs. I ended up undoing and will just copy the kit and give it a different name and use that moving forward.

Didn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason as to what songs switched to the new name and which didn’t - oh well!

Might have been a bigger issue…I still get an error message saying “error reading song:” SONG TITLE. Even after moving the kit back to the original name and many, many other songs not using the renamed kit.

This error also is now seen in past projects that haven’t touched in months!! And, I just copy the SD card over to the computer and it happened there too.

The SD card works fine on the Beat Buddy though.

The only other thing I did differently was resort the drum list by clicking the AZ button. Could that have done it?
