Changing the bass line key

Hi I recently tried changing the bass line key for the song matchbox to A flat following guitar stu’s tutorial. When exported the midi files they appeared as vlc files rather than as beatbuddy threads as in the tutorial. I could import them into the midi editor but they didnt play and sound like the original song. Can anyone offer some explanation or help with this

I don’t know what is going wrong on your end. But, there is no way I would ever try to edit this long of a bassline in the built-in midi editor.

Attached is a transposed version of Phil’s song, with the bassline lowered 1/2 step to Ab. It took me at most 15 minutes to do this in Logic, and that’s only because the song is a non-OPB, with 3 sections.
