Click / pop noise is back

First of all i’m aware of Click or pop noise thread.

I upgraded to version 5.2.x and recently I upgraded to 5.3.4. Unit is ~4 years old. I used to have the click/pop noise problem as well before 5.2 as described in the thread. Wasn’t appearing every single time but afair very often and usually on the part change or when loop started from beginning. Symptoms were very similar to what people were describing. It usually appeared later. Out of nowhere. On change. I could never hear it when pressing the button.

The pop on the part/loop change has disappeared with 5.2.x but I noticed it reappeared somewhere else. Now the pop usually appears in somewhere in the middle of playback. I can also sometimes hear it on part change. It’s very random. Not related to any other action (like pressing another pedal). I can’t hear it when pressing the button.

I can reproduce identical pop when i’m stopping whole playback by holding play/stop all button. I press it. Hold it. Song is wiped and pop is heard. Every single time. It looks like computer lagging almost. This doesn’t bother me. Just mentioning it as the the reliable way to reproduce identical sounding pop noise.

Another good example is when I have two tracks recorded (in 2x2 mode) and I want to change part. This thing often causes lag in whole unit. I can notice it on screen (the timeline gets stuck and ‘jumps’ a bit). And often one or two pops can be heard at the same time. They are usually not recorded. Anyway it makes whole unit unusable for live playing or recording.

I’ve tried factory resest by erasing everything. 5.3.4 upgrade was done last week when I started noticing those lags. I wonder if I just need to clean the unit somehow as it is very reminiscent to computer operating system that slows down in time as mess gathers in the system. I can hardly imagine what kind of mess could pile up here though since only SW activity were two or three upgrades.

I had issues with 5.3.4 and even the recent Beta version. It would lock up and I would have to reset it, I had to revert back to 5.3.0 for everything to work, I contacted support and they also could create the same issues I was having, I have been waiting on fix.

I’m not experiencing any kind of full freeze. Just partial and quite occasional. Never had to reset. Anyway I will gladly try rollback to 5.3.0 I just have hard time locating the file. It looks the link disappeared from the 5.3.x thread after 5.3.4 was released? Any chance you know how to get it?

Used the forum search tool on 5.3.0 and this is what I came up with: https://onedrive.live.com/?redeem=aHR0cHM6Ly8xZHJ2Lm1zL3UvcyFBbG9hWUdmMDFreS1pNVJuZzZJM0hzT0I5S2U4ZFE_ZT16S2VZOG0&cid=BE4CD6F467601A5A&id=BE4CD6F467601A5A!182887&parId=BE4CD6F467601A5A!114681&o=OneUp

I’ve downgraded to 5.3.0 and was playing out it a bit with it. No change. I’m not entirely sure if the GUI lacks are gone. At least one happened but it’s not really bothering me as it wasn’t affecting output sound. Anyway the pop/click sound is still there.

Now I’m able to quite reliably reproduce it with empty loop technique. With ROP mode I record empty loop. Nothing can be heard there even though I spill the empty loop to next repeat (because of ROP). Then I start recording some drones. Pop will appear in 70%+ cases on the loop start. And it’s recorded so when I stop whole song and start it again it’s still there.

In a situation like this, support@singularsound.com will usually ask you to send a video of what’s happening.
