CrowdBuddy: I am a basic user of my Maestro, Aeros and BB. I would like to add some of the Crowdbuddy wavs to my show at the end of and between songs.
Example: I’m playing a southern rock song with a rock drumset, and I’d like to have a button on the Maestro that triggers the Stadium Applause which is on the Crowdbuddy drumset.
Note: I’m guessing I could add that 1 wav file to the Rock drumset and have the Maestro play that midi “note” when I press it.
BUT… I have hundreds of songs, I’d like to have 15-20 crowdbuddy type sounds available no matter what song and no matter what drumset.
Question: how do I do it? can I create some kind of CC command followed by a note command that would play whatever wave I want at any time?
Another Example: some guy yells “freebird” (they always do) and I’d like to have quick access to a maestro button that will play the Freebird wav followed by the crowd Boo wav. Is any of this possible?
Sorry, I’m studying, trying and learning… and retrying, but I’m just not getting it.
Thanks in advance,
Michael
Hi Michael,
If you have the MIDI Maestro, I would recommend using Custom Mode on the MIDI Maestro with the BeatBuddy template. You can use the following MIDI command to change the drum set:
- CC: 116 with a value of 0-127 selects a specific drum set.
You can select the CrowdBuddy drum set with this MIDI command and use the accent hits menu to trigger the sounds from it. If you only need one accent hit for a specific song, you can load that accent hit using the BeatBuddy Manager Online.
If you need help with this or have any questions, feel free to reach out to support@singularsound.com.
Feedback:
I ended up cutting down the Crowdbuddy songs to just a few, and had to pass on some I would have liked to have, but I put those in every drum set so that they are all available all the time no matter what song / drum set I’m using.
The reason for the limited list is of course due to the files size limitations.
Also, what I found is if I used the CC command it takes way too long to get the crowd buddy kit loaded and then after loading there is a big delay in when I could trigger the sound I wanted. ie. small applause.
BUT…. I have the sounds, I’ve built the layers/screens for Maestro and I really love the the crowd buddy sounds…. Especially the Applause(s)!
