Another option, depending on the circumstance, for deleting a part is to simply navigate away from the song and when asked to save your changes choose NO. Then re-open the song and the unwanted part will not be there. It’s one way not to have to re-record everything from scratch.
Whenever I have a 6x6 and mistakenly tap to begin a new, unwanted, part I just use the trick above to make sure next time it opens, it doesn’t have the unwanted part.
I am jumping in on this because it is a good segway to my question. Let’s say I am in 2x2 mode and have laid a track in each part. I like part 1 but not the track in part 2. Then I go to part 2 and I want to “erase” the track. Since there is no erase or delete track option, the only choice I have is to undo it. Then I switch back to part 1 and start the beatbuddy in part 1 of my selected beat. Next I transition to part 2 using the beatbuddy. The Aeros executes the transition, but it does not start recording as it normally would have if the track in part 2 was actually deleted. If I want to record onto the track in part 2, I am now required to hit the record switch on the Aeros as soon as the part1 to part 2 transition occurs. In this scenario, the “undo” is NOT equivalent to a true delete function. If we could “delete or erase” the track instead of just having the undo option, this would be much better. After executing the undo track, I tried to save the song file and reload it. I was hoping the undone track was erased, but it was not. It still had the undone track.
In summary, the way the Aeros works with the beatbuddy, the “undo” is not equivalent to a true erase. There may be other senarios. IMO, the lack of a simple way to delete a track is prohibitive. Please advise if I am missing something. Thank you.
This is a good work-around. Thank you. But as you know, it requires that you save your work as you build your parts and tracks at critical milestones in order to have something to go back to. During the creative process, the recognition of a critical milestone is often times hind site. This is a good work around, but it is not a solution. We need the ability to delete individual tracks. An Undone track is not treated the same as a “clean” track. This a great product, but it has its quirks. I hope they fix this!
This will not be fixed, it is part of a critical limitation that the Aeros cannot have empty tracks between existing ones and we likely will never spend the time necessary to rework that
All products have limits sometimes flexibility is needed to work around them
I’m just a couple of days into my Aeros (with a toddler in the house, so probably equivalent to 6 hours into it for a non-toddlerist) and I join the club of surprise about not having a simple “delete track” function. I totally understand the technical limitation you mention @BrennanSingularSound but that means you can’t have empty tracks BETWEEN existing tracks. What I would really like to have is a “delete track” for just the last part recorded. The UNDO function seems very annoying when for example you make a mistake and just have 2 seconds of weird noise and then if you undo it, you have this little 1-2 or even 0.5 second glitch, even undone, which seems to persist when the song is saved. So in my case at least I don’t mean to insist on being able to delete ANY track of the song but just completely remove the last track recorded. I don’t know if I express myself about this but it would make things easier in relation to mistakes or things you just want to remove completely without there being a “ghost glitch”.
I guess until then, the only way to go is to close the song and open it again.
Anyway thanks for so much work on an excellent piece of gear and software!!!
PS: I guess it is not a “life and death” problem but imagine you have a song complete at 5 layers and then accidentally you add another track and just record 1 or 2 secs of unwanted sound… what do you do with that? Just mute it? It would be great to be able to completely remove what has been just recorded. Thanks.
I don’t think we will be changing this soon unfortunately, however, the deleting last track is interesting, you are free to post as it’s own feature request
As far as the quick deletion, have you tried the Cancel Recording setting in the device Behavior settings? When enabled, this allows you to tap the Play / Stop All button to cancel the current recording/overdub to not require a hold command
You can also achieve a one tap solution by using MIDI, check out all the supported MIDI commands here
