..the change was supposed to have happened in July(?)
Is this change still pending or already done and will simply not load into older browsers correctly or just be crippled for some functions or appearance? I’m presently using Win7 Pro with FF 115.27.0esr (64-bit) or Chrome Version 109.0.5414.120. I have no need to change/upgrade as every other forum or site I use works flawlessly (if it ain’t broke no need to fix it). A recommendation in the Discourse link for Win7 users was to use 3rd party ‘fork’ to access Discourse forums. One of those ‘forks’ was flagged by my AV as malicious and promptly quarantined, so not sure I put any trust in advice from Discourse.
I think the Discourse changes have already begun to be implemented as I see several differences in how the forum displays threads and posts. Most of the changes appear to be esthetic.
I found this disclaimer on the web:
“Discourse will no longer support Windows 7, and while basic functionality may continue, updates and stability are not guaranteed. Users are encouraged to upgrade to a newer operating system for full support.”
I think you’ll continue to have basic functionality for a while… however if you’ve tried Thorium or Supermium thorium vs supermium - compare differences and reviews? | LibHunt and they cause your AV to quarantine them, you can take a chance and whitelist them as safe.
