I was wondering if anyone can recommend something midi that can connect my midi boss sl2 slicer pedal to the aeros/beat buddy combo ? The pedal is midi, at the moment im just winging it trying to get the pulses of the pedal in time with the beat buddy, but if someone can recommend some hardware to connect them all together I’d appreciate it! Many thanks
Since you’re not describing your signal chain or how you intend to use it, I’d suggest you keep it simple and use the BB to control the start, stop and maybe the tempo of the Slicer.
You’ll need the Singular Sound Sync Adapter for the BeatBuddy (BB) pedal, BMIDI-5-35 cable and DIN-5 MIDI (male to male cables). Double-check your Slicer user manual to make sure you’re ordering the right TRS to MIDI cable.
Suggest you connect from the MIDI Out of the BB Sync Adapter to the MIDI In of the Slicer and try it from there. If you want to connect anything more elaborate, keep in mind that the Slicer only has MIDI input so you can ask Support, support@singularsound.com for advice. Be sure to describe your proposed signal chain and ask for the correct settings for the Singular Sound devices.
If you intend to use a MIDI controller, you can use the MIDI Maestro to connect everything and at this point, you’ll probably want to use the Aeros as master and the BB as slave.
Hey, thanks for responding, my chain is all my guitar pedals go before my aeros ( including the slicer, the slicer is really cool, its a deluxe tremolo basically but has a lot of patterns in it as well so you can get oscillating patterns etc, check it out on YouTube!) Then that chain goes into the aeros. My beat buddy goes into the aeros and is my master ( so I can speed up the track when I want to bring the set to a crescendo) but as the aeros and the beat buddy only have 1 input each, yeah, i need some kind of adapter so I can have 2 midi inputs going into the beat buddy (the aeros AND the slicer, so the slicer can go in time with the beatbuddy) I hope this makes sense ? Many thanks again for responding
I don’t think you’ll need two MIDI inputs per pedal. You can refer to the Aeros 5.3.4 User Manual for connections (illustrated and explained starting on p.5) and settings (p117).
WIRING: BeatBuddy (BB) as master MIDI Out to Aeros as slave MIDI In and Aeros MIDI Out to Slicer as receiver MIDI In (using the BMIDI-5-35 patch cable). Since your BB will be the master, you shouldn’t need any MIDI inputs to the BB pedal.
SETTINGS: You should set individual MIDI channels for the Aeros and the Slicer on the BB as well as your Aeros and Slicer. That way your BB can separate the commands to each pedal. You can use your user manuals to configure the settings.
