External Footswitch Inconsistency: Folder vs Playlist Navigation (BB2)

I’m running a BeatBuddy 2 with the latest firmware/software (as of 3/22/26).

Setup:

  • BB2 in Master mode
  • Dual momentary external footswitch

Expected Behavior

Navigation and selection should work the same whether using Playlists or Folders:

  • Scroll with external footswitch
  • Select a song
  • Start playback with the main pedal

Actual Behavior

Playlist Mode (BB2 Stopped) — Works as Expected

  • Hold external switch → exit to playlists
  • Tap → scroll up/down
  • Hold → enter playlist
  • Scroll to song
  • Press BB2 pedal → select
  • Press again → start

Folder Mode (BB2 Stopped) — Inconsistent

  • External switches A/B appear reversed (next/previous flipped)
  • Can scroll and enter folders
  • Inside a folder:
    • Tap = scroll (reversed direction)
    • Hold = go back
    • No way to select a song using the external footswitch or main pedal

Real-World Impact

In live performance, I often take audience requests that are not in my current playlist.

I can navigate to the correct folder hands-free using the external footswitch, but I cannot select and start the song without bending down to use the main pedal.

This breaks performance flow and is inconsistent with Playlist behavior.

Request / Question

  • Is this intended behavior or a limitation?
  • Is there a setting to make Folder navigation match Playlist behavior?
  • If not, could Folder mode be updated so external footswitches allow full navigation and song selection, consistent with Playlists?

Goal

Consistent, hands-free workflow:

  • Navigate (playlist or folder) → select song → start playback
  • Same behavior regardless of mode

Any updates on this, still an issue unless there has been a recent (since Mar 22, 2026) firmware update.

The issue has been forwarded to our development team, but it hasn’t been fixed just yet. Any updates will be posted here as soon as they’re available. We appreciate your patience in the meantime.
