Feature Request for BeatBuddy 2: Independent Drum Reverb Control

I would like to suggest adding an adjustable reverb effect that applies exclusively to the BeatBuddy drum output (not the combined output)

Summary of Benefits

An independent drum reverb control would provide several important advantages:

  • It would allow users to send an already processed (wet) signal into the BeatBuddy while independently controlling the level and amount of reverb applied to the internal drum sounds.
  • It would eliminate the need for external mixers, processors, or routing solutions solely to add reverb to the drums.
  • It would make the BeatBuddy input path significantly more useful, since users could run effects-laden signals into the unit without creating problems when trying to add ambience to the drums later in the signal chain.
  • It would provide greater flexibility for compact performance setups where minimizing external equipment is a priority.

I was both surprised and disappointed to discover that reverb was not included in the new BeatBuddy 2.

Before explaining my use case, I should note that I am a committed Singular Sound customer. I currently own:

  • 2 Aeros Loop Stations
  • 1 BeatBuddy
  • 1 BeatBuddy 2
  • 3 MIDI Maestros
  • 1 Super Switch

I am very familiar with your ecosystem and use these products extensively.

Until recently, I did not have a need for onboard drum reverb because I routed the stereo output of my BeatBuddy through a mixer, where I could add a small amount of reverb to the overall mix.

However, I recently redesigned my performance rig to eliminate the mixer. My current signal chain is:

Guitar → HX Stomp → Aeros Loop Studio → BeatBuddy 2 → TC Helicon Play Acoustic (Aux Input) → PA

One of the strengths of this setup is that the levels of the live guitar, looped guitar, BeatBuddy drums, and vocals can all be controlled independently.

The challenge is that there is currently no way to add reverb to the drums separately.

While the TC Helicon can add reverb to the final output, both my guitar and vocals already have the desired amount of ambience applied. Adding reverb at that stage affects everything in the mix equally, resulting in excessive reverb on the guitar, loops, and vocals just to give the drums some space and depth.

If BeatBuddy 2 included an onboard reverb that affected only the internal drum engine and not the incoming audio signal, users could:

  • Send a wet signal into the BeatBuddy.
  • Maintain independent control over guitar, loop, vocal, and drum levels.
  • Add ambience to the drum sounds without affecting the rest of the mix.
  • Avoid additional routing complexity and external processing equipment.

This feature does not need to be elaborate. Even a single high-quality drum reverb with a simple level control would be a major improvement over the current situation.

Users who do not need the feature could simply leave it disabled. In fact, I am a good example of that. My original setup works perfectly without onboard drum reverb, but my newer mixer-free board would benefit from it tremendously.

I believe adding independent drum reverb would significantly enhance the flexibility of BeatBuddy 2 and make it even more attractive to musicians using modern compact performance rigs.

Thank you for considering this suggestion.
