Firmware 5.3.0 - Recording problem

Hi, since few weeks I use the Firmware 5.3.0. - without Problems. But now it doesn’t work.
I have a problem with one song, where I can’t record another track in Part 5. All 6 parts are full. When I try to record Track 5 in Part 5, this error message appears after a few seconds during the recording: “Warning: Out of memory. Save song to merge overdubs and free up more memory.”

There is no overdub in the full record. My SD Card-Size is 32 GB an now are 605 MB on the card. I have 2 additional SC cards as backup. The same error message appears. It must be a bug.

I sent you an email with a Foto.
Thank you for help.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out and reporting the issue! I’ll respond via email with further assistance.

This is not a bug, this means you are out of memory, try saving the song to reduce the amount of memory you are currently using. Each song can only have so much recorded to it, it does not allow you to use the full SD memory

The Aeros has dynamic memory which changes based on how many things have been recorded since last saved.

Thank you for reporting

Hi,

That’s not the issue. The song is saved. I now have 11 songs on the SD card, but with one of them, I can’t record another track.

I’ve attached a video showing the entire process, and you can see the warning under the record section. I send the video with wetransfer on support@singularsound.com.

Thank you.

It may still be the issue if you have recorded more audio than is possible on a single song, which is still possible even if saving.

@BrennanSingularSound can you clarify:

  1. are overdubbed tracks merged automatically when a song is merged, or is another step required
  2. if merging tracks saves memory, is the strategy to reduce the number of tracks by overdubbing and merging as much as needed?
  3. is there any impact to audio quality from lots of overdubs vs. separate tracks
  4. what is the limit on memory usage? can i assess this by looking at total of file sizes for a saved song?

I need to fully understand this, since I’ve ventured into storing some tracks. Thanks!

@BrennanSingularSound - any info on the above? I’ll be working on this this weekend, any input you have would be appreciated, as always.

@BrennanSingularSound i’ll guess you are on spring break. I found a workaround for my problem, and think I answered questions 1-3 of 4 above. hopefully this info will serve as input to improve file management for Aeros.

I had a song that I’ve spent a lot of time on, and after a certain point, could NOT get it to save. I started saving every so often. by overdubbing up to 5 parts per track, i had only one track for each of 6 parts, with one part having 2 tracks. but towards the end of dubbing, it either wouldn’t save, or i’d get Error: Load operation failed. Here’s what i found by looking at the files on my mac.

it seems the more times you save, the more.wav files get created. some of them seemed redundant (an earlier version without an overdub, + the later version with overdub). at some point, Aeros chokes on the total song size.

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT THAT SIZE LIMIT IS, PLEASE. I’m guessing it’s around 25-30MB?

also, the AE started getting confused as to what i had saved, replacing some .wavs with copies of another. i tried removing what i thought were dup .wavs, didn’t work.

i finally got it to work, by doing all tracks/overdubs, THEN only saving once. painful, but it worked.

please advise if there’s an easier way to do this.
