OK so I bought a replacement TRS cable and an alternative footswitch.
It seems the only issue was in the TRS connector cable.
It turns out there is NO PROBLEM with the supplied dual footswitch, MY BAD

I have that same problem of the right foot switch quits functioning and when I go to configure the foot switch, the left reads well, but says the Right switch is not detected. I did order a new patch cable.
