Recently I had a chance to compare the new Gold version with the old Silver version. I play acoustic music and listening to a recent live recording it became clear that the clicks from the old pedal is actually very loud and annoying to the audience.
The new Gold one is very silent, and I really like the feel about the switches, somehow more organic and musical to press the buttons when they don’t make a loud noise. Of course, mainly an issue when playing soft music like me.
However it’s not just the switches that appears to have been upgraded. The “wheel” also acts differently. On my old Silver pedal, it’s VERY loose and easy to move with your feet, but on the new Gold version it’s much harder to move. I think it’s a matter of taste what works the best. When playing live I’ve always struggled a bit with using the wheel to turn the volume up or down. It is so easy to move it too much and difficult to just turn it a bit up or down (because usually that is the purpose), but I always thought it to be a question of lousy hand/feet coordination from me. So, for me I think the new “wheel” will be a clear upgrade. Can’t wait to try it live.
Doesn’t believe I’ve seen the thing with the wheel described before – most posts just mentions the silent switches.
