Groove+Monkee Collection

Just downloaded the Groove+Monkee collection. How do I add this to my existing SD card (with my current project on it)? Drag the entire folder into the reader icon on the desktop (currently has my main SD loaded)?

No. You don’t want to use your computer operating system to manage the contents of two different projects. You should use the BBMO.

Use the Groove Monkee support page to get you started and if you’re still having problems, check back in this thread with your questions.

Import a PBF File using the BBMO – Groove Monkee

Ah, right. BBMO. Load your project, then import. Should have known that. Am I correct in saying this is a ittle different than the Beat Boutique Pack? Those were just seven (7) .drm files - I hit “Import Drum Set” and it was good.

But for GrooveMonkee - I downloaded the Groove+Monkee Collections .zip - puts the folder on my desktop, opened that. Per the GrooveMonkee site (link you posted) says to open “Other MIDI Mappings” folder. Don’t see that folder. It also says "extract the zip file named “Mega Pack BB”. I don’t see that anywhere in this download either.

Tried to upload a snipped screenshot but it I get an error when I hit reply, so here’s all the folder contents of the extracted .zip

(folder) - data
Desktop.ini
(folder) DRUMSETS
(folder) EFFECTS
Groove Monkee Collection.bbp
hash.bcf
(folder) PARAMS
(folder) PLAYLISTS
(folder) SONGS

Well this is great. Thought perhaps the download has been corrupted. Apparently I’ve reached the max number of downloads for Groove Monkee? Come on man. I bought this full collection and there’s no “Other MIDI Mappings” folder, no “Mega Pack BB”. And now I can’t download at all. What is going on?

And I’m reaching out to Groove Monkee via their “contact us” - but what exactly are they going to do about this? I purchased this (and the BeatBuddy, and the foot switch, and the Beat Boutique and the Midi cable) through you, Singluar Sound. Someone needs to send me what I purchased.

I hope I have not caused more confusion.

Did you buy the Groove Monkee Collection from Groove Monkee or from Singular Sound? There’s a slight difference between the two.

Groove Monkee makes their Collection (GMC) available thru Singular Sound and I believe that package has both the GMC and Singular Sound Default Content 2.1 merged into a single project. So if you’ve customized or created any songs in the Default Content 2.1 project that came with your BeatBuddy (BB) pedal, you can export the folders with that customized content along with any user-created drum sets and then open the GMC project in the BBMO and import the stuff you just exported.

On the other hand, if you bought the GMC directly from Groove Monkee, I don’t think it has been merged with the Singular Sound Default Content 2.1. The files and folders that you entered in your post above are part of their GMC project and it should open and work in your BBMO.

Here’s what I’d recommend:

  1. Open your Default Content 2.1 project in the BBMO
  2. Use the BBMO gear wheel to export all drum sets and folders.
  3. Close the Default Content 2.1 project in the BBMO.
  4. Open your GMC project and then import all the drum sets and folders you just exported. You should now have a merged project containing all of the GMC and the Default Content 2.1
  5. Save your project and then synchronize it with your SD card.

You can upload .png screen shots now.

If you bought the GMC from Singular Sound, reach out to Support, support@singularsound.com for help

If you bought the GMC from Groove Monkee, reach out to them via their web site “Contact Us”

I bought this from Singluar Sound - Order

I was eager to get into this now using the download but I’m traveling on business until next Monday. Perhaps I’ll wait until the SD card is delivered.

persist - ok I tried this. Opened Default content on BBMO. Exported all drum sets and folders to a folder I created on my desktop. Closed the project.

Opened the GMC folder - that all loaded fine, in fact as you mentioned, appears to be Groove Monkee + all the Default content (of course minus the playlists and songs I had previously created, hence the re-import).

When you say “import all the drum sets and folders you just exported” - I presume I need to hit “Import Song” for the songs and “Import Drums” for the drums b/c I don’t see a way to import the entire folder. For the drums, no problem, you can “select all” and import. But for Songs, when you hit “Import Songs” and find the Songs folder on the Default content I exported - it will only let you select one folder. You can’t “select all”. Do I have to do these one by one?

I do appreciate your guidance, you’ve been extremely helpful.

I’m glad you are making progress. You’re almost there!

I just tried walking thru the process and I see how I misled you. The BBMO Export All Folders and Drumsets function is somewhat misleading. When I think of a BBMO folder in the context of the BeatBuddy file system, I expect the end result to be a single .pbf file (which is a proprietary BeatBuddy format—the file is a container for all of the songs in a folder). That’s not what’s happening—it’s exporting all of the songs or beats within that folder.

Hope this is clearer now.

I should have caught this last night but I didn’t. What you want to do instead of importing each song, is to:

  1. Open your original/current project with your customized content.
  2. Use the BBMO to select a folder (not one of the enclosed songs)
  3. Click the stacked dots to the right of the folder and press Export
  4. This will result in a single file containing all of the songs within that folder
  5. Repeat for every folder you need
  6. Once you have all of the .pbf files ready to go, you can close the original/current project, open your GMC project in the BBMO and import each or all of the .pbf files

To illustrate, I used the Ballad-mini folder in the BBMO

and the result was a file named Ballad-min.pbf
