I’VE BEEN USING BEATBUDDY FOR YEARS AND I USE BEATBUILDER TO CREATE DRUM TRACKS. RECENTLY BOTH ARE GETTING BAD. BEATBUILDER IS NOT SUPPORTED AND IS DIFFICULT TO OPEN AND DOESN’T IMPORT MIDITRACKS ANYMORE AND BEAT BUDDY MANAGER IS NOW UNSUPPORTED AND THEY WANT ME TO DOWNLOAD BBMO. I DOWNLOADED BBMO AND OPENED A PROJECT AND NOTHING HAPPENED…WONDERFUL. HOW DO YOU USE THIS THING. ALSO I DOWNLOADED REAPER AND FOUND THAT IT COMES WITH NOTHING! HOW DO I GET DRUMS? AND THEN HOW DO I USE THIS SOFTWARE? BEATBUDDY HAS BEEN SIMPLE TO USE FOR MANY YEARS AND I MAY NOW HAVE TO FIND OTHER DRUMS SOMEWHERE. CAN SOMEONE HELP OR AT LEAST ADVISE.
Do you know why it’s like this? Is it on purpose or not?
That only means that no new updates are coming, if it works for you then no problem using it
BBMO is online tool so it only operates through a browser with internet connection. Did you manage to open the project or not? I’m not sure I’m following
There is a manual for BBMO which should help to get started
BB plugin could be the answer here
First thing would be that take a deep breath and relax Try to think your situation calmly and do what makes the most sense in your situation
Now it seems like you are jumping from one potential solution to another before making any difference Pick one and go through the pipeline at least once before you try the next one
If you know something doesn’t work then don’t spend any time on that
Please follow forum guidelines and avoid use all caps in your subject line and main body of your posts.
Are you referring to drum sets or creating beats for songs?
Boatbuilder as you’ve discovered has been unsupported for years and with each new version of the Windows or macOS operating system, the BeatBuddy Manager (BBM) becomes one step closer to being less useable.
It sounds like you might not have read or had trouble with the instructions for setting up the BBMO for first time use.
- Create a new folder on your desktop and
- Copy the contents of your SD card in to this new folder.
- Use the BBMO with the supported browser (Vivaldi, Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, click on Open Project
- Navigate to your new folder and click on it to highlight
- Press the Select button and allow it to Edit Files
- You should now be in business
Unless you’re willing to devote a lot of time to learning Reaper, probably best to not bother with it.
sorry about the caps, i was using a font where they look similar on my screen. reaper looks like a lot more than i want to learn, i just want to make a few drum tracks. i’ve had a rough time with bb lately where i lost everything (yes it is gone)and reading about things being unsupported(and not understanding what that means) sent me into a panic. as long as bbm will continue to work i will use it and i will try to find a basic beat building platform. thanks for all your help and advice
If you still have a project on your SD card, you might be able to recover your stuff. Let me know if this is the case and we’ll try to get it restored.
i have a few saved projects but all are empty when i load them onto bbm. i’ve tried , they’re gone, but thanks.
This might help you avoid future issues but when projects are empty, it’s usually an indicator of a corrupt project where a song or a folder in the BeatBuddy Manager (BBM) has been named using a period, comma, or some other special character in the name e.g., 1. song.sng, Mr. song.sng or 02. folder name.
If you’d like additional recovery help, reach out to me via DM on the forum.
