How do I set the default Global hit sound?

I want to set the global hit sound to a kick drum how can I do that? I know I can set it to “default” in settings, but that means I’d need to program all my beats to have the kick as the accent hit sound, Trying to find a shortcut to doing this.

I would like for the pedal to:

Use the assigned hit (if assigned)
Use the global hit in any case where a hit is not assigned to the part.

It was my understanding that setting a global setting overrides the hit if it is defined. Is there a way to get it to do what I describe above?
