We have a song in 4/4 that has a couple of 3/4 measures. How do you guys handle the short measures?
You can create a fill that has a short measure. Even create the fill with a full measure first and then the short 2/4 measure so you can trigger the fill a measure early.
Thanks, I will give that a try.
I tried building a short measure fill but it didn’t work. I can build a 3/4 measure (for a 4/4 song) in Beat Builder but the BB won’t play it correctly no matter how I time the pedal press. I tried downloading a song with a claimed short measure but couldn’t hear the short measure when I played it on the BB so I didn’t bother to look at the midi file to see how the author implemented it.
Can you provide an example or point me to one or otherwise give me more details how I can make one?
I’ve been playing around with basic intros and posting them in Resources but I’m finding I have to add a phantom beat at the start of the next measure to get the BB to play the intro/loop properly. I’m missing something about how the BB reads beats.
We usually use the time of those extra 2 beats to take a drink…
You could make the whole song 2/4. The only thing you’ll really notice is that the “metronome” will flash 1,2 instead of 1,2,3,4
That works for 2/4 in a 4/4 song but not 3/4 which is what I was trying to do. Anyone successfully add a 3/4 fill to a 4/4 song?
It will be interesting to see how the BB handles entire songs if there’s a short measure in it.
anyone ever figure this out? I need this for “The Weight” which drops 1 beat in the chorus.
never mind, fixed it. just added a 3/4 measure. I thought I was going to have to convert the whole song or some other major effort!
