How to reduce timing?

Hello, I’m explaining my problem below because I don’t know how and where to post it on your forum… My Beat Buddy accompanies me when I play the Scottish bagpipes. It replaces the snare drum and bass drum. It’s great for rehearsals. I use the marches a lot, but the sets available only have 4/4 marches. I managed, with some difficulty, to create a 6/8 march, except that On your BB Editor, I don’t know how to get the snare sound like the one in March 9, for example. I selected sound 38: Snare, but I can’t reduce the time like I can with the snare sound in March 9 to imitate snare drum rolls like the scottish drum. Why can’t I reduce the time?
Could you help me? Thank you very much.
PS: I would have liked to attach a screenshot, but apparently it’s not possible to link files…

Try posting your screen shot now. It should work.

Hi there @Pascalou I think what you are looking for is to reduce the length of the note.
If you are using BBMO, add a note, then hold down your [ctrl] key, click on the right hand end of the note and move your mouse to the left to shorten the note.
Then create another note on the next block, do the same.
Now hold down the [ctrl] key again, click in the middle of the right hand note and move it up tight against the first note.

This is much easier in a DAW because you have a duration of note option, but the above will work in BBMO for you.

I think I have a midi file that does what you want. I used this beat in one of own songs a couple years ago. I’ll look for it in the morning, and if I find it, I’ll post it.

You can try importing this .mid file to see if it brings you closer to what you are looking for. I exported the Part 1 file from Marching 9 beat changed to 6/8 time.

Unzip the file and use the BBM or the BBMO to Import Song.

MARCH- Beat 17- snare march straight ahead 4 on the floor.mid.zip (1.2 KB)

Thank you so much for your explanations, which finally allowed me to shorten the duration of a sound, but it’s a terrible hassle! Sounds keep disappearing! I’m constantly forced to recreate sounds I’d already made. It’s infuriating… It takes me all day to make a single line… It’s not easy at all.

Hello, thank you for your help, but once the MISI file is downloaded and I ask BBMO to import it, it doesn’t see it even though I put it in the MIDI steps folder…

This doesn’t sound good. You might want to make a video of the process you are using to show the disappearing sounds, zip it and email the file to support@singularsound.com to this thread.

This may be a case of your process. Try following these steps:

  • in the BBMO, create a new song
  • Use the BBMO to import the.mid file to Part 1 of your new song
  • Save Project
  • Name your new song and set the BPM and save your project again
  • Try playing your new song

I’m not very computer savvy; I don’t know how to make a video of what I’m doing and send it as a compressed file… As for the sounds that keep disappearing, yes, it’s strange. I have to redo the created sound a thousand times because it disappears, especially when I’m on a different part of the song, and each time I have to re-enter the settings. I’m going to contact support about all these bugs…

This is what I had:

12-8_Slow_March.sng (1.4 KB)

Chnage the kit to any kit you have. Mapping is fairly standard.

Hello, thank you so much, I will try ….
