Continuing with my tribute to Slim Harpo, we have this little number I built from scratch. The recording sounds like Slim on guitar and harmonica, but there is a slapboard and some kind of shaker, probably a maraca. It’s clearly an acoustic guitar playing open chords, but its in F. My best guess, is that this is Capo 3, played in D, since is has this D# bass note. Also interesting is the structure, basically a 12 bar blues with the 4 in the turnaround:
1,1,1,1,4,4,1,1,5,5,1,1 - But Slim turns it into a 14 bar pattern, adding two more measures of 1 at the end: 1,1,1,1,4,4,1,1,5,5,1,1, 1,1.
The intro just counts in with the shaker, Slim started the harp solo on what would be beat 2 of the 2nd measure, with no accompaniment. The outro just stays on the 1 chord at the end.
