Import Drum Set - list order effects MIDI

When I import a new drum set, then go to “songs”, the new set is listed in alpha order. The problem is that I use BB with OnSong. Every song I create in OnSong I issue a MIDI command to select the kit. But the MIDI command is based numerically on kit order. So when I add a new kit, BBMO renumbers every kit below it. That forces me to manually go through every single song in OnSong and renumber.

The solution would be to let me choose the drum set order in BBMO. Or simply make it so that any new kit is added to the END of the list.

Anyone else have this issue?

I haven’t worked with the latest versions of OnSong, but in the version that I use, when I select the song, its Drum Set loads along with it. You just ensure that the Drum Set is the default Drum Set for the song, and by selecting the Song in OnSong, both the Song and the Drum Set load.

I’ll give that a shot. That would be immensely helpful. Today I added a new drumset, then spent the next 45 minutes going through 100 songs on OnSong updating each with a one higher numbered kit.

I’ll give your method a shot!

Thank you!

There may be some preference setting in OnSong that tells if to load default song drum set. Look for that before proceeding.

I’m having this same issue, glad I’m not alone. Please let us know what solved this. Thanks!

Phil - thank you for the suggestions. Once I removed the hard-code MIDI command in OnSong to select a specific kit, it worked well. That assumed that I had created a separate song on BBMO for each song. About half the time that was true. For the other half, I would just use a “stock” song and use MIDI in OnSong to tell it the specifics (beat, kit, etc…). That’s when I would run into trouble when I added a new kit - because all of the OnSong songs that I had hard-coded a specific kit would now be off by 1. Lesson learned. Going forward I’ll just duplicate a “stock” song if I need it and move the dup to my own folder and rename as a new song. A little painful but much less than what I just went through.

Thanks again!

Another idea I had was to number your kits. If you make the first three characters in a kit’s name a number from 000 to 999, and you increment by 1 as you add kits, the alphabetical sort would keep them in order by entry date. I do that with my song folders, so that the songs are always where OnSong expects them to be.
