I’m interested in using a Boss FS-7 pedal instead of their original pedal. Can anyone tell me if this works or if I should order their original pedal?
Many thanks!!
Yes, the Boss FS-7 works perfectly with the BeatBuddy, as long as you use a TRS (stereo) cable and set everything up properly in the BeatBuddy settings.
Key things to know:
- The Boss FS-7 is a dual footswitch with a single TRS output, just like the Singular Sound Footswitch+.
- It supports momentary or latching operation. You must use it in “momentary” mode for the BeatBuddy to work correctly.
- The mode is selected via the small toggle switches on the back of the FS-7. Set both channels (A and B) to the “A” position (momentary normally open).
How to set it up with the BeatBuddy:
- Connect the FS-7 to the BeatBuddy’s Footswitch input using a TRS (stereo) 1/4" cable.
- Power on the BeatBuddy.
- Go to:
- Main Menu > Footswitch > Footswitch Detector
- Press each FS-7 switch once when prompted, so the BeatBuddy can detect the input type.
- Then go to:
- Main Menu > Footswitch > Footswitch Settings
- Assign functions to each button (e.g. accent hit, pause/unpause, next part, etc.)
Notes:
- The FS-7 is more compact than the official footswitch, which can be a big plus on smaller pedalboards.
- It features soft-touch switches — they don’t click, so they’re quieter than traditional switches.

Confirmed - The BeatBuddy is compatible with standard momentary or latching dual
footswitches which have a single TRS (Stereo) ¼” output (one switch is connected to
the Left channel and the other to the Right).
Thank you very much for taking the time to provide such a detailed answer!!
